Dr. Joshua Tokita, MD

Very easy to schedule an appointment once established. Took a while to get an initial appointment though. I do like the phone follow up option for medicine refills

Dr. Tokita has embraced telemedicine. He is always accessible.

I'm happy with the care provided by Dr. Tokita. He seems to be always on time as I have never had a late appointment. He can be quick, which is good when I'm in a hurry. One thing I've found is that I need to write down my questions ahead of time because the appointments are usually so fast that when it comes time to ask questions I forget what I meant to ask. He does take time to answer all of my questions, but sometimes I have to slow him down. I have purposefully tried to drag an appointment out for an extra 20 minutes and was successful so I think he will take as much time as you need. Care was good. I didn't have an answer or diagnosis at my first appointment. He told me he wasn't sure what was going on the first appointment and would have to think about it and ask around. He did figure things out about 2 weeks later. Sense of humor can be a little off at times, but I think he is trying to lighten to mood.

I needed an operation and Dr. Tokita spent a lot of time talking about pain afterwards, which was a little disconcerting. He to me that the operation would be painful and that he would provide me with a set number of pain pills assuming no complications. I had the operation and afterwards was some of the worst pain I'd ever had. I reached for the pain pills which did the trick but then realized at the rate I was using them, I would run out quickly. I started rationing and finding all sorts of ways to cope. I'm happy with the final result. I wish there had been less pain, but I survived. I'm sure there are other docs who do a better job of pain management, but in retrospect, I'm happy at having made a full recovery with minimal pain medication.

I had contracted a neck infection that was festering for weeks. I was bounced around from physician to physician since nobody wanted to deal with my condition. Finally landed in Dr. Tokita's clinic. After a lengthy explanation of what he thought was going on, we came up with a plan to get it under control. He made space on his schedule to have me come in every 3 days. If the day fell on a weekend, he met me on the hospital inpatient floor. It was tedious and time consuming, but I made a full recovery in the end.

Kind and caring. After a completely disfiguring surgery, managed to find a way to make me smile every day I was in the hospital. He even managed to make my family members smile and laugh.
