Dr. Joy Kristine Anderson, MD

I have seen this doctor as she was the only one available, this should have been my hint. I complained to her of excessive thirst, drastic weight loss, excessive sleepiness and polyuria. She looked at me and asked when was the last time I ate. I informed her that I'm not very hungry but have been drinking gallons of water daily. She asked my family members if they think I have an eating disorder. I weighed 106lbs. I thought this was ridiculous and so did they!! She sent me home with a prescription for type 2 diabetes medication "just in case" I was diabetic. I took the pills, felt horrible and was told to come back the next day. I lost 2 more pounds overnight, and she finally checked my glucose, which was 365 fasting. I still can't believe that she thought I was anorexic! I had all of the telltale signs of type 1 diabetes! Got to the ER right away, at least that was the smartest thing she told me to do.
