Dr. Joy Deshay Mciver, MD

I don't feel Dr. McIver recognized the seriousness of nerve pain I was experiencing. Was put on steroids which had no affect. Tried to make contact for further advice and it took several times/days trying to get a response. If she'd listened better at initial visit I believe this wouldn't have put me through further painful days. I didn't want pain meds as they make me very sick, but needed a shot of cortisone which I told her. I don't do cortisone shots regularly, have only had a few in my 75 years, but I knew that's what I needed.

Although I feel Dr McIver is probably very good at what she does, I do really believe she should take Post Polio Syndrome off of her specialties. Those of us going through this very scary and uncertain time really need someone who is familiar with what is going on with us. I did not feel Dr McIver does not know enough about, or had enough experience with post polio patients to make me feel comfortable with her care of me. I feel Dr McIver should take Post Polio Syndrome off of her list of specialties in the Alina/Sister Kenny web site so others don't waste their time (and money) going to her.
