Ive had a diagnosed sleep disorder since i was a teen. it isnt fun and has lead to other health issues. i have an immune disease that causes incredible spasms and headaches. i stop breathing (hypopnea) and wake up drenched with my heart pounding out of my chest. . i have had many sleep studies, am on sleeping pills, have tried everythung from biofeedback and holistic things to medicine that literally knocks one out, solid. i have central apnea now so its all getting scary and my old sleep doc/pulmonologist retired. i went to dr paul and was met with that attitude it seems 99% of Skokie hosp. doctors have - youre exaggerating, you have mental issues or if its too involved they don't want to be bothered. i was told to follow healthy sleep habits. go to bed the same time, wake up the same time, dont look at the clock if you wake up, no caffeine at night. really? thanks...yeah i read all that in magazines. no help, condescending attitude. never went back and was stunned at the apathy and… zero interest in even looking at my past records

Had my first visit today with Dr. Paul. She was patient, well informed and patient centered.

She failed to address my primary complaint. She told me immediately it could only be one of two things: Sleep Apnea or Restless leg syndrome. Expensive testing later: Was not the two things. She still did not want to address my initial complaint: Insomnia and wanted me to come back and get tested for Narcolepsy which, I also do not have. I went to another facility where they have an Insomnia specialist and he is actually addressing my real issue.
