Dr. Joyce Gerdis Karp, MD

I was successfully treated for acute clinical depression-I decided as a result to stay in therapy for about 2-3 years to deal with other problems. A few years later reentered therapy for about 7-9 months due to relapse. Am still on low-dose anti-depressants and have a "check up visit" every few years. Dr. Gerdis Karp is a superb psychiatrist-that's why it isn't easy to get an apptmt. Unfortunately she does not take any medical insurance-a drawback. She was immensely helpful to me.

I was in therapy with Dr. Gerdis Karp one three occasions; the first being the longest and dealing initially with a serious problem; the later two on separate occasions when there were brief partial recurrences. I consider her a brilliant and competent psychiatrist; she was very helpful to me and recommend her unqualifiedly. Unfortunately she does not accept any insurance and has the odd, offputting habit of never addressing patients by first or last name which is carrying prof. distance to an absurd distance. She was immeasureably helpful to me and has extraordinary prof. insight in diagnosing her patients' problems.
