Dr. Juan Camilo Calle Cano, MD

I am not entirely sure how Dr Calle has gotten a few bad reviews. My experience honestly was one of the best I have had in years. I saw Dr. Calle for a follow up from my urologist to help with some litholink urine results and kidney stones. I came to Dr. Calle after suffering a surgical complication. I had a hole perforated through my ureter with a kidney stone surgery. This was one of the most traumatic events and I seriously have PTSD from it. I have been scared to trust any doctors since this. I was not overly hopeful that my visit with Dr. Calle would go well, however I went anyhow because I needed to understand possibly why I had kidney stones. He spent about an hour with me. Explained absolutely everything. Pulled up records from 18 years ago and determined my stones were present for that long which helped potentially rule out some kidney diseases. I was spoken to with dignity and respect. I can't tell you how much this meant to me with what I had gone through a few… months prior. Thanks to this MD, I still do have faith in doctors. Thank you Dr. Calle for taking the time to explain and make me feel that I still matter.

I saw this provider for the first time after suffering kidney stones. I was told he was the best of the best in stone prevention. His bedside manner is less than acceptable. Upon meeting me for the first time, he claimed I was 40 minutes late to my appointment (the time was 40 minutes past appointment when he walked in, after all of the pre appointment stuff) and that he wouldn’t be able to do what he normally does, and emphasized how HE would be there late that day. I am a nurse, and this was extremely upsetting to me and screamed that he didn’t actually care about his patients. Not a good first impression. He also tried telling me how to manage another medical problem outside of his specialty, which I have previously put much thought into. He continually emphasized throughout the appointment that my BMI put me at obese and if I could just eat better and be more active, I would prevent more stones from forming, without asking about my lifestyle currently. (Also, BMI doesn’t take into… account muscle vs fat, and being more active will increase muscle, which weighs more…) He ordered several urine tests, an ultrasound, and blood work for when I am supposed to see him again, but I will not be following up with this provider.

He was my doctor for over a year, mainly because I thought I’d be too much of a hassle to switch and always hoped it would get better. Honestly the least helpful, least care, most dead fish personality-having doctor I have ever had the displeasure of being the patient of. He was condescending, rude, and apparently hated explaining things to patients. I wish I had switched sooner. If you want to have a condescending corpse watch over your health, then is this the doctor for you!

Arrogant! Was rude and asked me why I was even in his office. This doc told me my well documented high blood pressure and well documented serious heart arrhythmia were made up in my head! I recommend heading in another direction
