Dr. Juan Carlos Castaneda, DO

I have had 7 hand surgeries, and Dr. C did the last 4. Every time I have a problem with my hands or wrists, I go straight to Dr. C. He has done an amazing job on all of them. If and when I have another problem (i.e. trigger finger), I will not hesitate to go back to him. The only negative is that there is usually a bit of a wait time. However to me, that is a small sacrifice to pay to get the relief from pain and to get the full use of my hands again.

Dr. CASTANEDA did both my hands, Carpal tunnel surgeries. I felt instant relief. I had this procedure done back in 2006 and I still tell people to this day 2020 how awesome and professional everyone was and gave me back the use of my hands. Thank You so much!!!

I am glad my insurance referred me to Dr. Castaneda. I was not looking forward to having carpal tunnel surgery. Everyone I talked to wished they didn't have it done and I was really hesitant. But Dr. Castaneda was able to do the endoscopic carpal tunnel and I am very happy with it. I actually only needed the pain medicine for the first 2 day's and I was happy to be able to go to work 2 day's after the surgery. I have told everyone I talk to about my surgery and they all tell me how lucky I am and I told Dr. Juan the same thing in my follow up appointment. Dr. Juan and his whole staff are great. After 3 weeks of surgery I still have a little tenderness in my hand but it is getting better as time goes by. Thank you Dr. Juan!

He had a longer wait due to an emergency surgery as he also works at Halifax ER...he is noted as one of the top 25% dr there. He is very accurate and precise with his diagnosis and trustworthy. Another patient in the waiting room had just had surgery and said his problem was resolved as his had was going numb from nerve pinching due to an automobile accident and that This Dr. fixed his problem. Personally I would rather have a Dr. that knows his business than one who is s talker and a smoozer. But Dr Casteneda was personable and answered any questions and asked me several times if I understood all my issues with my hand and tendonitus. His office by the way has been moved to another location so he was in the process of moving and also has new staff as he had a few issues with the old but has corrected the problem. I felt his staff very curtious and prompt.

My first office visit was a disaster. They are completely unorganized and my wait was over an hour. Dr. Casteneda looked at my hand and scheduled surgery for trigger finger. The day of the surgery, a friend dropped me off at the surgical center. I was prepped and waited for two hours for Dr. Casteneda to show up. The staff at the center apologized profusely and quietly informed me that this is a common problem with Dr. Casteneda. After the surgery, I returned to his office for a follow up visit. There seemed to be different office staff there and experienced the same wait. Now, two years later, I have the same problem with my finger that I had before surgery. As a Bio-Medical engineer having spent many hours "scrubbed in" I'm sorry to say that I can't recommend Dr. Casteneda. Your health care provider can certainly provide you with other fine surgeons to work on your precious hands.
