Dr. Juan Pablo Perdomo Rodriguez, MD

I had almost given up on Shands Drs until meeting Dr Perdomo. He showed a clinical interest in me. He showed that he wanted to actually find the problem with my diabetes spikes. He did not try to push pills on me. He chose to run test and diagnose the problem first. I really appreciate a Dr that can diagnose . Many are just bill pushers. He was very in-depth with all aspects of my heathcare. I feel so secure to know that I am cared about and taken care of.

I’ve had type 1 diabetes for over 20 years and he was talking to me like I had no idea what I was talking about when I tried to share my feelings and opinions about my own diabetes care. He said many things that I found unnecessary and rude, some of which were also unrelated to my diabetes. He did not seem to listen to a thing I said and I walked out of the appointment very upset and angry. The receptionist was very helpful and gladly switched me to a different doctor. Will not be going back to him.

Dr. Perdomo Rodriguez was extremely thorough and responsive to my son and his needs. He is one of the best doctors we have ever seen. He took the time to explain what each test was and the results. He also communicated with my son via email over the course of the last 2 months. If anyone ever needs a good Endocrinologist, Dr. Perdomo Rodriguez is the best!

My husband has had 2 surgeries and 28 radiation treatments for a pituitary tumor, so he definitely needs an endo. We were assigned Dr. Perdomo after his first surgery. We were told he is very smart, and being young, "on top of things". He goes by the numbers - that is, he bases treatment on lab work, not on how a person feels. He can be difficult to understand b/c of his accent, but also b/c English is not his first language, we feel a lot is lost in translation, and leave his office confused as to what he wants done and when, such as when he wants us to return or have the next labs done. He is closed to new or alternate treatments. His answer is to keep increasing Synthroid and not look at other possible causes of problems. Like so many doctors, he has a god-complex - "I know what I'm doing, just do it and don't question it." We are looking for a better endo, someone who will listen and treat us like people, not just a patient file. Also, the office staff is completely… incompetent - every time we need labwork or a refill on a prescription something goes wrong. When we call looking for answers or refills/lab work, we are lucky if they ever call us back, resulting is us calling several times to get what we need.

I walked out of my fist appointment with Dr. Perdomo feeling stupid, judged and down right angry. There wasn't a questions of what he expected me to do as far as a. He said "You ARE going to do" x,y and z with a condescending "You understand why, right?" at the end. There was not any discussion around what I thought of the treatment he had planned out. He even commented on the tiny space in between my two front teeth which have nothing to do with why I was there to see him. my Primary doctor( who is wonderful) put a comment in my chart to ask him about something else hat is going on with me. When I brought this up he said " That has nothing to do with this, I dont know why she would have you ask me that." And he quickly dismissed it and moved on, insinuating that my primary and I were stupid for thinking that he may have input. . He made me feel extremely stupid for not understanding all of the medical jargon he was throwing at me, and then made me feel even more stupid when I… wanted to ask questions. I walked out of the appointment extremely angry. I immediately asked to see someone else on my way out of the office. My appointment with him was a waste of time, money and he made me feel horrible. DO NOT SEE HIM.
