Dr. Judith J Greenberg, MD

I came to see this "doctor" when I was 13 and dealing with severe OCD panic attacks and meltdowns related to fears surrounding intellect, particularly with a "having profound thoughts" compulsion that I'd picked up from a book I was reading. She did not even talk to me before deciding that I did not have OCD, but "pediatric bipolar disorder" that "cycled within minutes". Thus led to a wild goose chase of taking mood stabilizers, antipsychotics, anticonvulsants, etc (at age 13) to treat a disorder that I did not have. She kept saying that I couldn't go on SSRIs for my anxiety but dxed me with ADHD in 10 minutes with a Cosmopolitan-type paper quiz and tried to put me on stimulants! She tried to put me on 5 or 6 different meds for disorders that she'd erroneously diagnosed me with-- (bipolar, Tourettes, ADHD). She was so blase about it and completely uninformative about her reasoning. She even mentioned that I had OCD symptoms and then DID NOTHING ABOUT IT, instead choosing to treat a… bunch of random disorders I didn't have. She was also incredibly condescending and rude to me during our time together. Now I suffer from daily panic and OCD fears of losing control, going bipolar insane, and hurting everyone. It's hard to get by in college and have hope and happiness, or look forward to the future. I'm always afraid. I've spoken to numerous psychologists and psychiatrists since then, and no one agrees with the bipolar dx. I've been off medication for over a year and they keep telling me to go on SSRIs, but I'm afraid. My family life is in shambles because my parents blame me for my own anxiety and get defensive about the situation. I can't make friends or date due to social anxiety and OCD fears of losing control. I have chronic insomnia due to the OCD obsessions that lead to sleep obsessions and anxiety. She is retired now, but I had to speak out about the unspeakable damage this woman has done to me. By far more traumatic than eighth grade itself was her subsequent "treatment" of me, which has done longer lasting psychological damage than the OCD in eighth grade itself. She had every opportunity to engage with my meltdowns and emotional difficulties as a person dealing with interpersonal insecurities and long lasting fears and OCD traits, but instead treated me as a biological machine. She also spoke to me as if I were six years old, not thirteen, fourteen, etc. She had me on lithium at an extremely young age and engaged in needless polypharmacy, which I was later informed was highly recommended against for thirteen year old girls. She should be ashamed of herself, she was a negligent and selfish doctor.
