Dr. Lipoff is an empathic, thoughtful and thorough specialist. The best.

Dr. Lipoff was snotty & impatient, both rude & disrespectful, with the manner of a teenager. He said, "I hope we didn't keep you waiting" instead of "I am sorry I kept you waiting 48 minutes". He irritably would not allow me to explain the reason for my visit, instead pouncing on the first thing he could latch onto & performing an elaborate & intricate immodest stage show for his resident (present without permission). He repeatedly failed to process information I gave him, which I was forced to repeat more than three times, & then entirely failed to accept or to comprehend the order & frequency of events I recounted, despite being reminded three times, and again despite the fact that the topic was emphatically NOT the reason for the visit, but was an opportunity for him to posture for his resident. He included this theoretical misinformation on my visit notes, which doubtless has now become chart lore, despite its temporal impossibility due to his failure to process the order of… events. All of this left me with a very sour taste in my mouth, and a feeling that his principal concerns are looking good for his resident, feeling good about himself, and essaying to urge so-called cosmetic procedures at the cost of preventative dermatology/screening. I will certainly never see him again. I would not feel safe to do so, and I imagine that if there was something to see on the complete skin survey I requested, he would have missed it, since he gave it nearly no time or emphasis and certainly failed to examine a number of areas on my body. After many years of living with lupus and having it become more and more debilitating, I decided to take a chance and go to Penn. It was the best decision I have ever made. Dr. Lipoff is not only an amazing physician he is a kind and compassionate man. He truly cares about his patients. He follows up and takes the time to personally call and coordinate care with my other physicians. I couldn't ask for more and finally have relief dealing with a relatively tough disease. I highly recommend him. I'm truly grateful.

I've seen this guy quite a few times.The whole time he did the same treatment despite it being very irritating and not working with him saying just keep using the medicine. One day someone close to me said look that doctor is just burning your face its so red its so dry and looks so much worst then before. If that was going to work it would have worked along time ago so really enough of that. My thoughts exactly, So when I finally told the doctor this really does not work and makes it worst. With an attitude he's like well you don't have to use it if you don't want to use it. Meaning so what I don't care. Well I got a problem with doctors that burn my face don't care and get paid for it.This is my life I care and thanks to some other place and some oral medication I never had to see another dermatologist ever again. On a patients point of view that is the most wonderful thing. So stay away from this guy or your problem will last forever.
