Dr. Julia Dinah Katz, MD

I have been going to Dr. Katz for 10+ years and she is one of my favorite doctors ever. On my first visit she told me more about my eyes than anyone ever had and I have worn glasses and/or contacts since 3rd grade. Her exams are incredibly thorough and she will not hesitate to send you to a specialist if needed. I read all of these 1 star ratings and it looks like people need to check their insurance policy before going to any doctor. Just because a doctor "accepts" your insurance does not mean they are in your network. Also, most insurance plans do not cover refraction costs. Mine doesn't but I would prefer to pay the fee than risk going to an Optometrist vs. an Ophthalmologist with my eyesight.

My visit to Dr. Katz's office has always been pleasant, her staff are polite whenever I come for a visit. I don't have to wait long for my visit. Dr. Katz's and her assistants are thought when examining my eyes and give me results immediately. When looking for a Ophthalmologist, I highly recommend Dr. Katz.

Great experience! I am really squeamish about my eyes, but Dr. Katz and her staff put me totally at ease. I've never had such a thorough eye exam, and now have a great pair of glasses! I'm sending all my family and friends to her!

iwas recommend to dr.katz by a co-worker.i was told that i have to pay a $200 contacts fee. when i arrived at the office the nurse took me to the back and she told me that i have to pay a $500 fee for her to show me how to put the contacts in my eyes. also an additional fee of $90 for refraction.this doctor is all about cash and very unprofessional. i would never recommend dr.katz to anyone

I agree. This woman and her staff are running a racket. I was told they take insurance over the phone, but when I arrived for my appointment and was finally seen 2 hours late I was not given the proper HIPPA information or review of services paperwork. It was only when I was asked to sign an agreement that I had received all of this information that the annoyed receptionist rushed me through all of it. I paid a giant copay since my insurance would allegedly not cover my eye exam and contact fitting (I have vision insurance). In the end I paid far more than my copay upfront and she still billed my insurance a ton. When I brought this up with her billing department they were incredibly rude and defensive. I would never recommend this doctor and her terrible disrespectful staff.

i went to dr. katz couple of weeks ago and the office charge me a refraction fee of 90 and i told the front desk that i dont want it

The office's practices is sketchy. The $90 refraction exam was charged to me even though I specifically did not sign the consent for the exam and told the front desk I did not want the exam. They gave me the exam anyway without telling me and are now charging me the exorbitant fee. I will make a formal complaint about this.

Dr. Katz is the kind of doctor that is increasingly rare these days - caring and attentive to the patient, willing to spend time, following up, and responsive to questions. I only wish all my doctors were as good as Dr. Katz.

seems to be very caring and thorough.
