Dr. Julia Szilagyi Levai, MD

My wife was referred to Dr Levai by an internist who suspected thyroid issues. After keeping her waiting for an hour and a half, in a VERY dirty building, Dr Levai didn't listen at all. She said my wife's symptoms were due to diabetes and not thyroid issues, because her TSH was fine. Well, my wife has Hashimotos disease and TSH doesn't measure how your cells are uptaking thyroid hormone, if you have a high reverse t3, cellular resistance, etc. She didn't order the right test and doesn't know how to properly read the ones she does. We went to another physician who properly diagnosed her and got her on natural thyroid meds and she is doing considerably better. Dr. Levai isn't competent to be practicing medicine.

This Dr. Was the rudest C i ever met! She would not let me get a word in edgewise! I have NEVER met anyone more rude! What a beach! I could not get the fudge out of there soon enough!! RUN!!

Am a caregiver and my client goes to this women. The first day she tells me she doesn't like caregivers. She doesn't listen to anything and is rude. I been with my client for over a year and know her, but when I try to talk with Dr levai so completely blows me off. I recommend to the family to change doctors.

I wish I had read reviews on her before going to see her. she is presumptuous, pompous, does NOT listen at all, and talks non-stop while repeating herself ad nauseum. Now I know why I was able to get such a prompt appointment scheduled. Unless you need/want someone to take complete control over your issues, stay away. She is no doubt knowledgeable, but not worth it.

Worst doctor ever. Wait time in waiting room before seeing doctor exceeds 45 minutes many times. She doesn't listen, is not empathetic and is very patronizing. I would never recommend Dr. levai to anyone I knew, not even my worst enemy. There are far better doctors in Tucson. Avoid this one at costs!

I am a type 1 diabetic with an insulin pump and transferred from another endrochronologist because of severe lack of attention and deception. Dr. Levai worked with me by scheduing bi-weekly appts, medication, food/insulin/glucose logs, and the time with her is wonderful. She truly cares and I'm glad; diabetes is nothing to mess with and that is why she is so serious about it. Really surprised at all the negative reviews; this lady saved my life. If you are active in taking care of your health and want a doctor that truly cares, Dr. Julia Levai is the one for you.

Experience has been pleasant and I have been controlling my diabetes and lost weight.

Be ready to wait. The waiting room sucks and the chairs are uncomfortable and from the 70's. Once you see the doctor you spend maybe ten to fifteen minutes with her. It definitely is not worth the wait. She tries to give you a certain cholesterol diet plan every time you see her. She doesn't read your blood work or labs and explain them, unless you make her explain them. You definitely don't want to run out of a prescription because she will show you no mercy. She has no compassion and is a control freak.

The office staff said I could bring my two year old daughter and after waiting an HOUR AND A HALF in the waiting room, my daughter was understandably tired, hungry, and talkative. Dr. Levai pressured me to make her be absolutely silent. Then, when my daughter inevitably talked (asked me for a piece of gum) Dr Levai berated me for not spanking her to quiet her, then YELLED "shut up!" at my daughter, causing her to sob in my arms. She followed that one up with a lecture about what I was doing wrong as a parent. I will NEVER be back to that unempathetic, rude woman ever again. It is worth it to me to wait another three weeks for a referral to another endocrinologist from my insurance. The office staff were wonderful, but the doctor is a WITCH.

I was Julia's patient for a few years I found her rude and arrogant but the last straw was in 2006 when I was suffering from constant nose bleeds and I realized I was afraid to call her and talk to her - I realized then I needed someone more compassionate even if I had to sacrifice arrogance and expertise.
