Dr. Julia Irene Malis, MD

Dr. Malis was not my doctor, but she was on call the night I delivered my baby. I planned to have an unmedicated birth. When I arrived to the hospital, the nurse checked me, and I was 10cm dilated, 100% effaced, +1 station. Dr. Malis walked in and told me to let her check me, I asked her why? There was no reason, I was complete. She told me that she needed to check for herself. I finally let her, and she gave me the most painful cervical check I’ve ever had so I pushed her away. She told me that I had to let her do her job. Then she kept trying to tell me when to push (even though I didn’t have the urge to push yet). And she tried to tell me to push on my back.. which is not how my body wanted to push. It was 3am and she just wanted what was convenient for her and had no regard for what I wanted.. the woman that was in labor!! I’m a nurse so I didn’t allow her to bully me into what she wanted. I also know that she has no bedside manners. I highly suggest not to make her your doctor.

I have been seeing Dr. Malis for almost 4 years now and she is so lovely. Always takes the time to answer my questions, checks in and asks how my family is doing and more importantly, I trust her as my doctor! I was disappointed she wasn't the on-call doctor when I delivered my son, however, she stopped in the next day to meet my son and to check in on us. I have a few friends that also see Dr. Malis. Highly recommend!

I saw her twice during my first pregnancu and we just didnt clicked. She has no bed side manners and made me feel stupid if I dared ask a question.
