Dr. Julia Marie Walter, MD

Dr. Julia Walter was respectful when interacting with me, but she never respected my desires regarding prenatal and labor care. I did not want to see my baby on the small ultrasound until my husband was in the room with me--she refused to allow me to see it with him. She forced me to receive an ultrasound alone with her first. She took away a moment that I'll never get back. Toward the end of my pregnancy, I shared my birth plan--instead of automatically receiving a Pitocin injection after giving birth, I'd like to wait and see if it was necessary (I made this decision after much research and receiving counsel from friends and family members who did the same). She lied to me, saying that I would HAVE to receive the shot. There was no option to decline. I asked a different employee (when she wasn't in the room) if I could decline post-partum Pitocin. They said absolutely; I would just sign a waiver. I was later informed by that employee that she was cornered in the hallway by Dr.… Walter, who informed her that "We don't inform patients that declining Pitocin is an option." My period was very irregular prior to conceiving my first child--I told her that I was very sure of when my baby was conceived (wink wink lol) and she disregarded it, scheduling my due date about a week too early. My 18-week ultrasound showed that my baby's legs (not her brain, not her head circumference, etc.) were "a week ahead" development wise. I have long legs. My husband has long legs. The ultrasound tech assured me that everything on the baby except the legs matched my current gestation categorization. Dr. Walter moved my due date another week closer regardless (IMO, placing my due date two weeks too early). According to Dr. Walter, I gave birth at 42 weeks gestation (to a barely 6 lbs baby). According to me, I gave birth at 40 weeks. I am now pregnant with my second child--they automatically scheduled me to see Dr. Walter, and they said I cannot switch until I meet with her once. I am already 16 weeks pregnant and will not be able to see her until 2 months from now. I asked that she place an ultrasound request so that I'm able to reserve an ultrasound app immediately after my appointment with her (which will be well after I'm 20 weeks along) and she declined my request. I feel tethered to a dishonest doctor who has lied and disrespected my rights and wishes in the past. I suspect that my request to switch doctors will be denied (as I see two other commenters said she refused to allow them to switch) DO NOT see her unless you're prepared to be treated like a (pregnant) child who has no say over her prenatal care.

I will never go back to Dr. Walter. She was distant almost to the point of rude and is just not my cup of tea when dealing with a Dr.

Shes an awesome doctor. I loved her. I had people tell me not to go to her. But she never gave me a reason not to. She is very kinda and answeres your questions.
