Dr. Julia Katherine Warnock, MD

After my psychiatrist of many years in Bartlesville surrendered his license, I finally was able to get into the OU School of Medicine. As with other reviewers, I saw a psychatrist in training and folleed up with an attending (which several times was Dr. Warnock). I very was fortunate in liking all doctors I had dealings with. I liked Dr. Warnock because she really listened. She was great at making sure the communication was working in both directions. She gave me great feedback on my answers to her questions and suggested some things for me to try that I would not have considered or been suggested to me before. Dr. Warnock had expertise in the fields of her suggestions and some of them provided great relief. I also have to see a physician for physical pain management and I mentioned to them that I had purchased some equipment Dr. Warnock had suggested and that it was helping me quite a bit. The PA at that office told me she had just purchased similar equiment and was also pleased… with the results. I have been going to doctors for so long and Dr. Warnock is the first doctor to ever make this suggestion. It took me monhs to get in to a psychatrist whose office I could get to, as driving is not easy for me and I had been told that things were going to open up for more appointments in my home town. Then another doctor left the town and all the plans fell through for everyone on the waiting list. Between these local circumstances and my physical limitations with driving, it took me much longer to get into someone than I had been lead to believe. It also did not help that the doctor I went to for so many years left terrible notes that made little sense. It had taken so long to find another psychiatrist that I was not in very good shape the first time I met Dr. Warnock. She went to great lengths to reassure me that there were several different approaches we could try and if one did not work We would keep looking until we found one that did. I left the office feeling a million times better and that I was not loosing it big time and I was going to get some real help. The doctor I would see before Dr. Warnock (Dr. Smart) was also very supportive and I tried to convince him to move to my town when his training was finished, because he would have a ton of patients very quickly. Dr. Warnock was out of the office on a sabbatical much of the summer, so I got to meet several other attendings. They were all very helpful and professional. I don't think any of them would mind me saying that Dr. Warnock was my favorite. I would like to say to other patients who had to sometimes wait to see an attending that I also had to wait several times, but many times it would be because the attending that was there was finishing up an appointment. So many people need help and the OU School of Medicine does a terrific job. My insurance changed recently and because of the terrible notes provided by my old psychiatrist (who lost his license), I could not proove that I had first tried other medicines before taking what helped me sleep. Dr. Smart was wonderful in spending the time required to help me with this problem. So now I finally have an appointment with the local psychatrist. They were nice enugh to call me when something opened up. I am very grateful for this and hope I have as good an experience with them as I did with Drs. Warnock and Smart. It would help simplify my life of this turns out to be the case. However, if the chemistry is just not there, I have already been reassured that I can return to the OU School of Psychiatry. I feel that Tulsa is a city with a lot of problems and that this group of doctors is a great resource and Tulsa is lucky to have them. I would wait twenty minutes any time to get to see Dr.Warnock for her guidance. Maybe a person needs to have their psychiatrist surrender his license for sexual improprieties in order to avoid prosecution (after you had opened up about all your misgivings and personal problems) in order to appreciate the compassion and genuine care from someone as gifted and skilled in her profession as Dr. Warnock.

She's incredibly intelligent. She listens to me and allows and makes lots of room for my own self knowledge. Very helpful. Very compassionate. Very pleasant!

It only took one visit with Dr. Julia Warnock for me to know that I would not be returning. She is does not listen, she is abrasive, and I felt like I was being interrogated. But she was more than willing to prescribe me a scary cocktail of medications (that I've already been on and that didn't work...she didn't care; nor did she order any lab work.
