Dr. Julia West, MD

She is unprofessional and does not care about her patients. I would caution ANYONE before having her as their provider. My family's experience with her was horrible.

My mom was having some issues with dizziness and I called 911 as I drove to her home 40 minutes away. I then followed the ambulance to MUSC Cardiology Emergency. A nurse came out and said my mom was talking and joking. 15 minutes later, a female doctor, Dr. West, pulled up a chair and I knew the news wasn't going to be good. She said my mom's heart had stopped and the team had begun CPR. She asked if I wanted to come back. I watched in shock for what I was told later was 40 minutes. Dr. West orchestrated the medical team and stopped to ask me about my mother...what she was like. She was very compassionate and her eyes expressed that compassion. She asked if this would be what my mother wanted. I told her yes. I don't know what it was that made the team continue to attempt to bring my mother back but just at the time that "the call" was being made, a nurse found my mom's pulse and my mom's heart began to beat again. She is currently in rehab but she is talking, walking (with… assistance for now) and her long term memory is intact while short term is not as much. We all witnessed a miracle that Sunday evening and in the weeks following. I will be forever grateful to Dr. West and the medical team for not giving up on my mother. God's hands were working in that team almost 3 weeks ago. Thank you. I will never forget.
