Dr. Julie Funke

I have never left a review for a medical facility in my life. But my experience warrants it to warn others. Julie should not be allowed to practice mental health care. I have never in my 40 years of life been treated so horribly and with such a lack of compassion by a "medical professional". I used the patient portal to ask her a question after hours on a Friday, expecting her to get back to me during business hours. I also left a voicemail on a Sunday asking if she could let my know when she got in Monday if there were any cancellations coming up to get in sooner than my scheduled appointment. I showed up to my regular scheduled appointment to be scolded for wasting her time after hours by sending messages through the patient portal and calling to leave a message after hours. Again, I didn't expect her to answer them then, but apparently I "wasted her time" because she chose to open/listen to them after hours. What is the point of a patient portal if you can't use it? My husband and I… were shocked at how rude she was to me over such a trivial issue. Had she kindly told me not to use the patient portal after hours, I would have respectfully agreed. However, she chose to be rude, abrupt and abrasive. Three characteristics that should not be used when providing mental health care. If you are going to provide mental health care, please, have compassion and be kind. It's not hard and goes a long way. I would have received more respect and compassion from a stranger on the street.
