Dr. Julie Shawki, MD

She is a good doctor. We have been seeing her for years for my son and she does a great job with him. She has a great bed side manner and she really puts my son at ease.

I saw her twice and she did not seem to remember me from the previous appointment. She stated I became diplopic, something I never had before. I have never had double vision. She made the wrong diagnosis and I have never been diagnosed as such before. She began to prescribe glasses as a therapy method for first appointment and I have no idea why. She kept pushing for surgery. When I voiced my concerns, she seemed to take offense to what I was saying and became very defensive. She wanted to see pictures of me when I was younger, maybe 30 years ago. I thought this was ridiculous. I had to see another strabismus specialist for other alternatives. I would not recommend her.

She gets 1 star for a very poor examination. She did not communicate clearly and effectively. I was more confused about her prognosis when I left her office. She stated I became diplopic, something I never had before. She kept pushing for surgery. She did not answer all of my questions. She advised me that I am not a good candidate for therapy due to very large angle of deviation. Other specialists disagreed. She wanted to see pictures of me when I was younger, maybe 30 years ago. We love Dr. Shawki. She has taken care of my daughter for years and always takes the time to explain the treatment and the next steps to take. She is very thorough and professional and she is amazing with kids. I think she was made for this. I am grateful for her and recommend her highly.

Dr. Shawki was very good and patient with my two daughters. She helped us a lot and was finally able to help improve their eyes after other things we tried with other doctors. All my daughters could talk about when they got home was how nice and cool she was. Her staff was very kind. I would highly recommend her.

She seems very busy all the time,like rush you out the door overtime you bring your kid. Actually is the only pediatrician eye doctor at Kaiser Panorama City.

My daughter has seen her twice for her condition. She did not seem to remember us from the previous appointment since she kept getting us confused with someone else. My daughter was prescribed glasses as a therapy method at her first appointment, the second appointment the dr made it seem as though she needed the glasses for seeing. She diagnosed my daughter with being nearsighted, yet my daughter sees 20/20 and has never been diagnosed as such before. (we had previously seen an opthomlogist outside of insurance for 2 years, and just had a regular optometry appointment 2 months prior). When i voiced my concerns about my daughters condition and her lack of wanting to do any interventions to help try to fix it, she seemed to take offense to what i was saying and became very defensive. She was very nice to my daughter, and was very good with her. But thats as far as my good praises go.
