Dr. Julie A Welischar, MD

I’ve been a patient of Dr. Welischar for many years now. She is knowledgeable and always takes the time to answer my questions. She performed a surgery to remove one of my tubes. She was flawless and my recovery was a breeze. She has been by my side through infertility, miscarriage, and celebrated when I finally got my miracle. With Dr. Welischar, you can have the confidence of knowing you are in excellent hands.

I have been seeing Dr. Welischar for many years and since the beginning she has always taken her time to listen and answer my questions. She is kind and compassionate and I have 100% trust in her.

I cannot say enough good things about Dr. Welischar! There is a good chance she saved my life! About 2 years ago a Pap test ( performed by another medical professional) came back questionable. I was very anxious, and upset and could have easily opted for waiting for a recheck before considering a hysterectomy because I had so much anxiety about going under anesthesia. Dr welischar was so patient with my fears that she was able to explain everything to me in a clear and calming way. I was able to trust her because she really listed to me and connected. Because of her I chose not to wait. They ended up catching my cancer at a very early stage. I have been to a lot of doctors, many of whom are brilliant,but Dr. Welichar has the added rare quality of genuine empathy.

I never liked any of my OBGYNs when we moved to LI so I kept switching . I always felt like a number and not a woman especially with male Doctors. When my daughter in law told me about Dr Welischar I went and was thrilled. She's a wonderful Dr. She's professional, friendly , honest and I highly recommend her. I'm not switching again. It's good to have a dr you can depend on .

She is absolutely the best! She was one of my docs from the stonybrookgynob.com practice and she was also there for me through half of my 32 hr labor. She was very calm and never pushed pitocin on me which I love. During appointments she is very friendly and thorough. She doesnt believe in checking for dilation and doesnt do it as a routine, which is another reason I love her. She wont push an induction as her and dr porte from that office say to wait until 41-42 weeks. They will strip your memberanes if you ask by 40 weeks but that isnt considered inducing. Overall, she is wonderful. I highly recommend her. There are staff members who I dont like including one of the nurses who once made a snide grunt at something I said and also one of the nurse practioners who I will never see.

She is the best doctor ever,I had a bad time at suffolk ob/gyn and decided to see Stonybrook ob/gyn and my anxieties that I had developed from suffolk ob/gyn went away after seeing her and her staff, this office is great and clean and respectful. She by far is the best doctor ever.

She was covering when my regular ob was off . I went into labor and she was quite rough when she checked me. To which she replied "sorry about that Roto-Rooter." Um, what? Nasty, awful woman. Stay away, stay far, FAR away.

I love Dr. Welischar. She is not one of those doctors that will push a c section nor will she induce you if you don't need it. She doesn't do checks unless you want them or if she feels you need it bec you have signs of labor. She's the only doctor who didn't hurt me during checks. I had her for part of my labor as well and was so sad she wasn't able to deliver my baby. She's the only reason I will be staying with this practice for my second. I also like Dr. porte. He delivered my child and was grt.
