Dr. Julie Ann Woodward, MD

If I could give ZERO stars I would. I have waited a year for an appointment with Dr. Woodward (scheduled for 7/17) and today when I called about the appointment was told she is not in the office that day and her next available appointment is 4/2025. They said they tried to call and sent a letter in April; however, I have no VMs or missed calls from them ever and never received a letter. The scheduling coordinator was unapologetic, and they had no other plan than to straight face tell me they could reschedule for April 2025. I understand she has a great reputation and works at Duke, but if that is the best you can do as far as customer service, no thank you.

Dr Julie Woodward is extraordinary! She is creative, artistic, professional and caring. She tells me what I need and what I do not need. Duke is so fortunate to have Dr. Woodward practicing here. Her team is also exceptional-efficient, kind and eager to please. Julie Woodward is in a class by herself! Duke needs to recognize her ability and accomplishments!

I’m writing this in hopes that it will help prevent any future patients from having to deal with all the stress and costs I have incurred as a result of attempting to have filler done with Dr. Woodward. I have had filler for over 10 years prior to seeing Dr Woodward. Previously, I did have one negative experience several years ago with filler, but the office where I had it done went above and beyond to try to help resolve the issues and defer cost. However, when I went to Dr Woodward for filler, I immediately noticed something was wrong- she did as well as a bump and redness immediately appeared on my face, but she just said that I bruised easily and it was not filler and would go away. (I never bruised easily with other treatments.) After I left, I called the office twice as I had weird marks on my cheek, a bump and a concave area - so bad that I didn’t go into work for a week because I looked so bad. The office was extremely nonchalant and took their time ( a week) to get back to… me….meanwhile I was experiencing extreme stress wondering if my face was completely ruined and I would ever look normal again and couldn’t go out in public . As a result of my persistence, they finally recommended I come in for bbl to get rid of the redness- I later found out this would be my cost . They did bbl and said it would resolve- again a week later redness was still there and a line across my face from where they dissolved filler. I called and sent email for further advice as they had no interest in checking on me- I had to fully pursue contacting them …another week after I sent the email they responded that they would schedule me for another bbl to try to get rid of the red marks on my cheek. I assumed they would be doing this as a complimentary treatment to help the mess that had been made on my face, but when it was time to check out, I was told I would pay in full for treatment. I emailed the coordinator and she said that the doctor just said there were risks in filler so the costs incurred to correct the botched job were my responsibility. So - I paid $450 for filler which had to be dissolved as it left a large red mark on my face and bump…then I spent $850 for two bbl treatments to try to get rid of the redness- still not sure if that will resolve…and I have a concave area where filler was dissolved. I’ve had filler added to concave area twice ($850 ) to try to fix that area and still not fixed…I’ll provide pictures of me before and after the treatment- Please think twice about going in for filler- if anything goes wrong you will be completely without support and on your own in terms of financing corrective procedures. The office will assume no responsibility. I would recommend going to a smaller office not Duke Eye where you can actually get people who are compassionate and care about the results of their service. I would not wish on anyone what I’ve been through the past month. It has led to stress and depression and the worst part is the office could care less if I ever get back to looking like I did before the procedure because apparently I took a risk by getting filler with them.

There is good, and there is exceptional! Dr. Woodward is the later. From the first appointment through the surgical procedure and post follow up has been a pleasure considering the surgical procedure I underwent. Dr. Woodward was personable, putting me at ease from the first time I met her. She explained the procedure and what to expect thereafter. Questions were always answered and before she left, she would ask if I had any other questions or concerns. I am 100 percent happy with the results of the surgical procedure. It's good to have some of my vision return. In closing, the entire staff at the local office to the Duke Eye Center where the procedure was performed were 'spot on'.

I had fat injections in my lower lids that created over time bulges under my eyes, it looked horrible. After seeing a cosmetic surgeon who told me there was nothing he could do for me and that it would get worse with aging I left his office feeling empty and hopeless. I found Dr. Woodward and she is amazing, after examining my lower eyes she said that she could help me and performed a lower laser blethoplasty. The outcome is amazing, she gave me my confidence back and was so sweet, kind and caring through the process. Her staff is equally as wonderful. I will definitely come back to Dr. Woodward and will trust her only with my eyes. I just love her! Thank you Dr. Woodward!!

Dr. Woodward is professional, but personable. Skilled.

I can never thank Dr Woodward and her team enough for their skill and care. I had gone through so many surgeries prior to being referred to her and the experiences had been most unpleasant with less than optimal results. I now have a working eyelid, I do not wake up feeling as if someone is stabbing me in the eye with a knitting needle. I am so very grateful.

I have been really happy with the results of my procedures. I would not even consider seeing someone else. She has my trust because she is very skilled, professional, and personable.
