Dr. Julie Biyuan Zang, MD

Been here many times. Dr Zang is precise, courteous and caring. All my needs were addressed. Staff is proficient and polite. Office is clean with a large waiting area.

Unnecessary procedure which left me scared. Did not listen that it became infected until I sent a photo.

I found there were too many references to skin cancer - which I do not have nor have had although the issues I have could go on to be that in the worse case scenario - but I always have them removed at the first sighting. There was no mention that this is unlikely to happen given my attention to skin problems.

I went to this doctor for three years for acne concerns, and her manner was always brusque and rushed. Fine, adult acne isn't the most serious thing in the world. Recently a mole on my face became regularly irritated because my skin would break out around it, finally getting to the point where it would bleed when I did so little as apply daily moisturizer, disturbingly. I had a larger mole on my neck removed five years ago in a different city, and the scar was a line that was minimal, so I figured that this doctor would be able to at least achieve a similar result. She removed the mole and closed the wound by cauterizing the inner layers partially (which my other doctor did not do--he used some kind of stitch or gel that dissolved) and then with four stitches that she allowed one of her shadowing young doctors to do, which I did not consent to--he was there to observe, supposedly. (He was not secure in what he was doing at all, and she had to correct him.) I was religious about… applying vaseline and keeping the wound covered post-removal, but four days later, I woke up and one of the stitches had shifted overnight and fallen out. I called her office and asked her what should be done, but her staff put me off until my suture removal another two days later. It turns out I had the wrong date for that, coming in a week early, but I thought at least she could take a look and fix the stitches situation. Instead of seeing her, I was hustled into a chair by a tech who said she would go ahead and remove the stitches now, barely five full days since the removal. I wish I had left the office then, but I thought at least the doctor would come in to check on what had been done. She didn't. In the next few days I saw that the wound looked like it was opening, so I got a new appointment (and had to pay a $50 copay.) At this appointment Dr. Zang was being shadowed again--never asking my consent that anyone else be present, just introducing them to me as an established fact. She denied that the scar was healing poorly because of her office's mismanagement, and condescended to me about how "the scar will fade in a year and you're overreacting because this is on your face" [to paraphrase]. Then the tech came in--why? For what reason? Clearly with that the visit was over, after about five minutes. These three medical professionals were clucking at me, watching me get choked up trying to explain how they weren't listening to me: I told them there was a problem and a stitch fell out early. I asked them why on earth my stitches would be removed without even having the doctor look at them. These are reasonable worries and obviously contributed to this large, ugly crater on my face--and who cares about fading, when it's a TOPOGRAPHIC ISSUE? A crater is much different from a line when it comes to scar, even if, as the doctor says, "it'll fill in a little bit!" I struggle to imagine what stitches were even for if the doctor is willing to accept this as a result. She pretended to sympathize with me being upset at a scar on my face when I was upset that THIS SCAR COULD HAVE BEEN AVOIDED. MAYBE IT STILL COULD BE?? WHY ELSE WOULD I HAVE COME IN AGAIN? She didn't get it. In the starkest terms I recommend you avoid this doctor. She obviously considers her patients unworthy of her actual attention.

I am so grateful that Dr. Zang is my doctor. She is brilliant, patient, and professional.

She has a fabulous bedside manner.. And she's smart.. What more could you ask for in a doctor?

Dr Zang definitely knows what she is doing when she does skin cancer check ups. She is expert in spotting suspicious growths on the skin and making sure they are biopsied.

If it weren't for Dr Zang, I would've never known I had skin cancer. She is a kind doctor who explains everything and doesn't keep you waiting.
