Dr. Juliet Arambulo Coquia, MD

I have been going to Dr. Coquia for years and find her very knowledgable. I was referred to her by several physicians and see why by her care.

I received a letter in the mail that she would not treat me. She prescribed Nephedipine and I refused to take it because my kidneys are already compromised. I requested my lab work and read them myself. Took me 6 months to get an appt. I have to drive 7 hours to see this doctor and the day before I find out that they haven't bothered to get the results from the tests they ordered. I was told by her nurse that they are too busy with clinic to get individual patients lab tests. I already knew I had Scleroderma when I got there. I did my research and I was told not to go on the internet. When the nursed called, incredibly unknowledgable and rude, to tell me I had a mass in my lung is was given answers to my questions mostly,I don't know the doctor didn't say. The other thing is there were other problems in my blood test I could see but was not told about by doctor. When I read my urinalysis report it was obvious I had a bladder infection. I called the doctor, told her and she prescribed… antibiotics antibiotic. A week later the nurse called to say I had a bladder infection and I should go on antibiotics. I don't know if this mess is because she was educated in the Philippines but she is obviously old school and is against anything holistic. After being told I had a mass in my lung, no idea how large, wouldn't tell me the radiologist report, and wouldn't expedite the form to get my CT scan in 3 days. Was told I had to wait 2 weeks. I had to cancel my first appt because of weather and I would not have the results of the CT scan by the time I showed up for the appt they couldn't reschedule for another two weeks. This is when the nurse told me they are too busy to get my report. I could be walking around with fibrosis or cancer for a month while I am trying to take care of this as soon as possible because my mother is dying in California. I told her this in a message and received a letter in the middle of all of this stress that she would not longer treat me. Thank God! Because of people I know I will be seeing the head of rheumatology in another state at a top teaching university and will be paying out of pocket. Sorry this was so long but stress is not good for this disease.

I was referred to Coquia by my GP due to a blood test coming back with a RA factor of 15 and my GP was out of her specialty to request further tests. As of my writing today, my referral has been submitted for 10 weeks and I have not been contacted to schedule an appointment. My brief conversation with the receptionist was not helpful - she didn't even realize my referral had been submitted, nor could she answer me as to where I was in their "review process " despite already having been submitted 6 weeks prior to my call. I don't know if Coquia is good or bad since she or her office won't even call me back.

Dr. Coquia is very friendly, concerned and attentive to my concerns. She spends a lot of time answering my questions and explaining her treatment plan for me. She, or her nurse always responds to my phone calls promptly. I have been completely satisfied with all my interactions with her over the past two and a half years.

This doctor is covering for my regular doc. She dismissed me thinking I was a drug addict and refused to write my refill. Im in very intense physical therapy for a very painfully condition. But she never even asked me why I might need more meds. She is terrible at practicing medicine and terrible with patient care. See a different doc.

I saw Dr. Coquia for over 4 years and she diagonosed me with Sjogren's Syn. (Secondary) which means I have rheumatoid arthritis and lupus. She was too free giving on Rx that did not work, nothing she ever gave me other than Prednisone worked for my pain. She failed to disclose that Prednisone was a steroid and that would cause me to gained weight (I already weighed 220 lbs). She does not provide you with information about Rx. I stopped taking the generic form of Plaqulinal, and she did not disclose that, by doing so, it would flare up my dormant lupus.

dismissive and condescending. this doctor should find a new specialty. Or at least study up on the hundreds of autoimmune diseases.
