The doctor was great. I had spots on my back and asked her to check them. She checked them, said they were just itchy and not cancerous, and, from behind, pulled out a metal can to freeze them off. It was painless, took about 2 seconds, and I was glad they were gone. However, if I had known that my AFTER insurance cost would be $170, I would have lived with itchy spots for a while! She didn't tell the price or even ask if I wanted them removed! I've called her office several times to pay my bill, but they are never open it seems. I'm a teacher, so I cannot call before 3:00. Frustrating. However, I did love her and her staff. I would use her again, though I will state up front that I would like to be told what procedures will be used and given the option of refusing them based on cost or personal preference. Today is my first day off from teaching (summer break), so I tried the office this morning. Again, no answer in the billing department.

We were referred to Dr Beamer from our regular doctor for removal of a questionable mole. Although it took us awhile to get an appointment, the office staff was very considerate and prompt. Dr Beamer has a lovely personality, and immediately put us at ease. She removed the mole, which pathology determined to be melanoma. Her office scheduled an appointment at UT Southwestern Medical Center in Dallas for further removal. She called after the surgery to follow-up and see how things were going. Also scheduled a follow-up appointment in her office.

This system requires an overall rating; I really can't rate her abilities as a doctor, because her antiqued billing procedures prevented me from seeing her (I have a small wart on my cheek that needs removal.) I waited a month to see this doctor for the first time, and spoke with the receptionist twice prior to my visit to provide insurance info and so on. When I arrived, however, it turned out the doctor also requires my social security number. I only provide my SS number to government agencies or financial institutions, so I'll need to find another doctor. I have a drivers license, a credit card, an Aetna insurance card. The insurance company provides an easy process for verifying my coverage; all of this proves my ability to pay. I spend thousands at Home Depot, Lowes and elsewhere, and none of them require my SS number....paying a doctor is no different (especially for the minor procedure I need in this instance.) A SS number is not some "universal ID" to be… used in any/all situations. It IS however a great tool thieves can use to steal your identity. Large corporations spend Billions trying to protect their clients' personal info (including SS numbers) and yet their computer systems are frequently hacked. There is no reason to believe this doctor's security procedures are any better.

Dr. Beamer not only took care of my skin problem (age spots) she has a fabulous bedside manner. She makes you feel like you are family. Her staff is just as nice and I have never even had time to sit in the waiting room, she always calls me right in! I would highly recommend Dr. Beamer.
