Dr. Junius Jackson Clawson, MD

Came in next day after surgery and listed my concerns.He wrote them down and then as he was talking I saw him absently fold the paper and tear into smaller pieces, I'm sure to throw away after he left room. My sister was present and also noted this. All he wanted to do was discuss a book with my sister that she was reading and said I'd receive better care going home. They were in the process of moving from the old hospital in Murray to the new one and nursing care was not good. On complaints all night following surgery and in horrible pain I was told in the morning that the nurse had not put any antibiotic in my drip or proper pain relief. Once home after release I developed horrible neck swelling and had to see surgeons on call because he was not available or able to contact. Days later he called and apologized for not being there. I'm guessing the surgeons who had to see me when he was gone, complained since they hadn't done the surgery. Months later we found the cervical… disk fusions and his surgery failed. He suggested a new method of using glue and said worst outcome could be "you're in an iron lung." Was right out of a horror movie. Had a second surgery months later when I was strong enough with a better surgeon and different hospital. Fusion worked but having to remove all the old hardware and put in new left me with nerve damage and chronic pain for life. He ruined my quality of life.

Dr. Clawson is a miracle worker! A month ago I couldn't walk. I'm 3 weeks post op and completely pain free! I lived with back and leg pain for almost a decade. I appreciated how realistic and up front he was on my condition. If you think you need back or neck surgery GO SEE DR. CLAWSON! I couldn't recommend him higher.

Dr. Clawson explained everything and answered all my questions. My surgery turned out even better than I hoped. My back is better now after only three months than it has felt in years. I no longer need pain meds other than tylenol

Dr. Lawson was awesome! He was very kind and thorough. He took time to make sure that my questions were answered. I even had to call his cell phone on the weekend and he was not bothered at all by my calling him.

Both him and his staff were wonderful.

Dr. Clawson has a good reputation overall, and he was recommended by my orthopedic shoulder surgeon. He does tend to have a gruff bedside manner, but what I care about is his skill as a surgeon. Dr. Clawson did a discectomy and fusion for three spinal discs, and the surgery was successful. unfortunately,I have a disease which will lead to more surgery, and I wouldn't hesitate to use Dr. Clawson. I love his PA.

First time I met Dr. Clawson I was impressed with his outgoing and direct approach to my ailment. The next visit was bad. He got 5 text messages which he took and responded to. This showed me very bad professionalism and I no longer see him or will have him operate on me.

Dr. Clawson performed a lumbar discectomy on me in 2011. While I believe he is a good surgeon, he has TERRIBLE bedside manner and is very egotistical. I am NOT extremely obese, I am slightly overweight (165 lbs), but I eat well and exercise 3-4 times per week (runner). Upon entering the exam room, Dr. Clawson immediately judged and lectured me about my weight and took the opportunity to tell me about personal accountability and living a healthy lifestyle. I was desperately in need of surgery and was quickly losing function in my foot, so I chose to have Dr. Clawson do the surgery. The surgery was a success and went smoothly, but through recovery he continued to belittle me and treat me as if I was morbidly obese. It is 2013 and I am once again struggling with a herniated disc and I am exploring my options, but even though I do believe Dr. Clawson to be a good surgeon, my skin isn't thick enough to tolerate his comments nor his judgement.

Dr. Clawson did a discectomy with hardware on two vertebrae. He ripped up the list of complaints I made the next day about my stay at IHC. My fusion failed. He did not use a bone growth stimulator even though I have osteoporosis. Nor did he use a bone graft. He gave no follow-up. I had a hematoma and two other doctors had to care for me. My second surgery (not him) fused but caused chronic pain and myofascial disorder.
