5 Star operation from beginning to end. Had colonoscopy today (2-2-23) performed by Dr. Maki who was patient, informative, thorough and pleasant. Office staff were great. I have been a patient of Dr Maki's off and on for a few years. I initially thought he was open minded, so when CV hit I decided to stick closer to home and revisit Dr Maki. I had been complaining of epigastric pain for quite some time..Heartburn, reflux, mid back pain, symptoms of gallbladder and or pancreas. I asked for a Hida scan, which is gold standard to check the gallbladder, and he said"he didn't like hida scans". He ordered an ultrasound, which showed mild inflammation, but basically said nothing was wrong according to this test. I also might add I had 2 previous Hida studies showing my gallbladder was overactive, or hyperkinetic. Dr Maki did not acknowledge this diagnosis, even though I had read Pub Med studies on this subject. I decided to seek out an open minded surgeon who listened to my symptoms. The surgeon listened to my symptoms and said it sounded like my gallbladder. It was removed, and the surgeon said "good call, there was a benign tumor on it, which do turn to… cancer as they grow. Luckily it was benign. I called Dr Maki to tell him I had it removed, faxed the office pictures and the surgical report. He called me a week later and asked me "what was up".I told him I was calling to raise awareness and that he should listen to his patients and order the correct testing, not what he didn't like! He took no responsibility, twisted the story to make it seem that he told me he was unsure. He told me he didn't want to be my dr, haha like I wanted him to be!!, and hung up on me. Not a true professional in my opinion. He is arrogant and not in the least bit kind..His bedside manor is as poor as his attitude

I can't say enough wonderful things about Dr. Maki! I was blessed to have found him. He's a compassionate, emphathetic and extremely knowledgeable doctor with a terrific personality and bedside manner to match! I'm almost sorry he 'fixed me' so I don't have cause to see him now on a semi-regular basis! Don't think twice...if you need a gastro doctor, see Dr. Maki!!

I have had several gastroenterologists, and Dr. Maki is by FAR THE BEST, most knowledgeable and humane doctor I have had. Recommend him mightily.
