Dangerous, exploiting, careless and negligent. I sued Dr. Jurina Smida and won because her actions were so egregious. She did untold damage to me physically, financially and as many other ways as she possibly could. Forcing expensive and unnecessary treatments, pulling too many teeth at once, severely dislocating and damaging my jaw for life, extracting teeth without sufficient numbing agent, pulling a tooth that was perfectly fine, injecting too much numbing agent in other areas. Charging 3X's more than normal dentistry costs. She is without remorse or empathy. Steer clear.

Scam artist! I waited for over an hour to talk to Jurina Smida at Dental Care & Wellness. I was in pain and suffering from major swelling from an infection in my tooth that needed to be removed. I had already gone to a reputable dentist, orthodontist and oral surgeon that confirmed that I needed the tooth removed and that I was a good candidate for a tooth implant. I was told by a friend of mine in FL, who is an oral surgeon, a research scientist, and who has pubs in prestigious medical journals that if I could find someone that uses metal-free implants I would be better off. Smida seemed to be the only person I could find that was in the area, so I wanted to meet her to get more info about non-metal implants. She finally came into the the dental area I was waiting in and looked at the X-rays I brought with me for less than a minute and told me that she "couldn't even consider doing any work" until I had more X-rays that would cost over $400+ even though I brought 2 sets of… X-rays from my dentist and oral surgeon. She told me that there was no way she could know if I could handle an implant and then said that I needed to get all my "amalgam fillings removed because they were making me sick." I got no information or explanation even after trying to ask her several questions. After a few minutes, she just left and I was brought into a small room with a door to sell me on signing up for a loan, so I could get all this work done that she recommended. I was furious because she never even talked to me to explain what she was going to do and why! She was so focused on my amalgam fillings and how she couldn't do any work on me until they were removed with no concern for my infected tooth. I felt like I was dealing with used car salespeople and when I made an issue about it with her assistant she came back into the room and closed the salesroom door. She tried to convince me how sick I was, how I had a "compromised immune system," and how much I needed all the work. After telling her how unprofessional I thought she was and how I didn't trust her to do the work, she backed off and agreed that all I needed to pay for was the extra X-rays and then we could go from there. I left the sales office and went to text my oral surgeon friend in FL about my experience and asked her for advice...her words were, "GET OUT OF THERE RIGHT NOW!" This unprofessional woman had the audacity to want me to pay $150 for that visit and she actually billed my insurance even though she insisted that she doesn't take insurance at all. She seems desperate for money, so I'd stay away. Also, it's almost impossible to find any information about her dental education. When you try to research her background and what little info that's available is sketchy. Make sure you check out the other YELP reviews that are similar to mine... CONCLUSION: I went back to my oral surgeon to have him remove the tooth and I'm still considering my options for tooth replacement because this experience with Smida has really made me much more cautious!!

Dr. Smida is extremely professional and she listened to me when I said I am a fearful patient. She takes pain management very seriously. I've been there 4 times now for major work (root canal, crown, and deep cleaning) and I trust her and will continue to seek treatment and maintenance from her.
