After a painful 8-year journey in which I had two failed ankle replacements, many doctor visits,braces, meds, therapy and more... faced with the possibilityof having tomeasure my days by howmany steps I could take & the recommendation of amputation by three doctors, we finally found our way to the knowing capable hands of Dr. Fleming and his staff. He somehow diagnosed and managed to put my foot back together and in 6 months I am walking without excruciating pain. there is an expression "I care how much you know but I gotta know how much you care" that being the case, There should be a line around your facility... Thank you doctor Fleming and staff for not giving up on me. I'm gonna walk until the wheels fall off!

Dr. Fleming performed a flawless three part surgery that feels just fine! Ankle replacement (had to find someone who didn’t want to fuse my ankle), lateral stabilization and fusion of my arthritic turf toe. Appalachian Trail, here I come!!

After having a compound fracture on my ankle back in 1979 and living with stiffness and pain until 2020 I was referred to Dr. Fleming. He is an amazing and knowledgeable physician who replaced my ankle and gave me a new life. While the technology was not available 10+ years ago, it is now and Dr. Fleming is the expert you can count on to perform this replacement. I have nothing but good things to say about Dr. Fleming and the staff at University Orthopaedics. I can’t thank them enough for the excellent care I received.

I was referred to Dr Fleming by an Orthopedist that was treating my ankle. He told me I needed a replacement and Dr Fleming was the best. I was a little skeptical as I had been told by other Replacement Specialists I had waited too long and fusion was the only answer. My first visit convinced me of his dedication and skills. When taking X-Rays, Dr Fleming, NOT the Technician, twisted and positioned my ankle to see if replacement was a possibility. Usually this is below a doctors level, but he ensured it was done correctly. He took time to hear my concerns about surgery and explained everything in great detail. He showed empathy for my pain and suffering and accommodated my desires. Post surgery, he would call me at home to cheer me up, see if the pain was tolerable, and just be a friend. He basically held my hand through recovery. 6 Months later, almost completely healed, but most important, pain free. Dr Fleming is the best Doctor I have been to and comes highly recommended!!

Dr. Fleming is a fantastic doctor and surgeon. I came to him after I broke my talus into multiple pieces and he was able to repair it with no complications. Highly recommend him to others with similar injuries since other doctors I went to were not familiar with the procedure. If you come to appointments prepared with questions he will happily answer them and is also responsive on the phone.

Dr Fleming is the rare clinician who is both highly skilled and extremely approachable. After being misdiagnosed and treated for 6 months at a high profile Philadelphia practice with no improvement in my mobility or pain, Dr. Fleming gave me my life back. I am relatively pain free and back to my normal, high activity level. He is an exceptional listener and also leads with both confidence and compassion. I am now on a path which I understand. He has empowered me to manage my own progress. If and when surgery is necessary (and it may be,) I have every confidence in a successful outcome. Thank you, Dr. Fleming. You are a gifted physician.

I was interested in a Total Ankle Replacement; I have severe osteoarthritis in both ankles, causing extreme mobility issues and constant pain. I did quite a bit of research on ankle specialists, and Dr Justin Fleming’s credentials are impressive. In person, his calm demeanor, intelligence, kindness, and sense of humor are everything I hoped to find. He went over my X-rays with me in detail, and explained the procedure thoroughly. Dr Fleming answered every question, and addressed any concerns with such patience, that I was completely comfortable moving forward with surgery. I have had an amazing outcome, and am so grateful to Dr Fleming for his skill in replacing the joint, and repairing all the associated damage to the tendons and ligaments. With no more pain, and the improvement in mobility, my quality of life has greatly improved. I absolutely recommend Dr Fleming with the strongest confidence for any foot or ankle issues!

Great Doctor who helped get back my quality of life

First visit was pretty good. Office staff was horrible. We needed MRI and I have a PPO. Office staff yelled at me and told me I could not schedule same day MRI--needed prior auth. Scheduled MRI myself for same day. Second visit with Doc, he just wanted out of the office. Glossed over the results indicating a fracture--walked to door as answering questions. Looking for other doctor to ensure fracture heals properly.

Dr. Fleming is one of a kind. Not only is he kind and empathetic, he is extremely knowledgeable and competent. I was diagnosed with a broken fibula and a severely sprained ankle. While presenting the options, Dr. Fleming highly recommended ankle stabilization surgery. His explanation was clear, logical, and confident. His approach to this difficult news put me at ease. This experience continued while entering the surgical room and each follow up appointment. Best part about Dr. Fleming, he lets you talk and he listens. Dr. Fleming’s awesome listening skills, humility, and ability to connect, make him an excellent doctor. Couple this with the success of my surgery and that makes Dr. Fleming an exceptional doctor!
