Justin Rice

I saw Dr Rice yesterday and he was very informative about what I should expect from my procedure and extremely friendly.

Just the worst. Unkind, uncaring, rude, did not review my medical record, recommended a gall bladder study even though I have no gall bladder, falsified my medical record,

I saw Dr Rice today I thought he was nice, never saw him before, he did and endoscopy. I did not leave there leave there with a bad impression.

Iowa Clinic puts you on a doctor's schedule for a procedure even if you haven't ever seen that doctor. Dr. Rice was very rushed and acted like he did not want to do my procedure. I asked if someone else was available and he just left the room. He did my procedure but I was so traumatized by his rudeness that I will never return to the Iowa Clinic. If you are scheduled for a procedure by gastroenterology, ask who will perform it when you make the appointment and if Dr. Rice is scheduled to do it, ask for someone else before you show up at endoscopy.

Unprofessional. Thought I was making up my symptoms. Performed no physical exam before doing an endoscopy. After endoscopy he recommended I have tests done that I had performed days earlier including having my gallbladder tested. I had my gallbladder removed 20 years ago. Clearly did not listen to anything I said before the procedure which I found scary. He was so intimidating before the procedure that I said I didn’t want him to perform it. After talking to me he left the room saying ‘Hurry up and decide. I have other patients to see.’ Regretted my decision to have him do my procedure.

No bedside manner - probably good that he only does procedures when patients are asleep. In brief pre-procedure encounter he completely dismissed my previous diagnoses. Said he would do my endoscopy but didn't expect to find anything. Have never felt more humiliated prior to a medical procedure in my life.

Colonoscopy went very well! I used Movi Prep and it was not too bad. I just had to drink 8 oz of prep every 15-20 min. followed by 16 oz of water and repeat the next morning. Much better than drinking a gallon of the other stuff. Everyone was very courteous and answered all of my questions. Now I don't need to repeat for 10 years. Dr. Justin Rice is highly recommended.
