It’s bad enough some of us will have to take narcotics for life but this guy got in trouble for overprescribing so the feds are making him switch his patients to suboxene cause he writes a ton of narcs and it looks hot

Like many of the other reviewers all I can say is that Dr. Wasserman saved my life! When I met him, I was in the depths of a multi-year depression due to the fact that I had had severe pain since I was 18 years old. I was at a point where I was thinking a lot about ending it all, and I walked into the group practice of my neurologist without an appointment, and in tears. Dr. Wasserman at that time was new to the practice and he saw me, and he told me that I had already tried all the other alternative the treatments that there were to try. He told me that I needed to undertake being on opiate medicine 24/7 for the rest of my life. He told me that I needed pain medicine in the way that a heart patient would need medicine, and that was not easy advice to swallow. I have been a patient of Dr. Wasserman's for about twenty years now, and we have been down a long road together. I did not easily accept the opiate therapy and I went off to other doctors to get detoxed twice. When I found the… resultant pain unbearable. Dr. Wasserman accepted me back and started working with me again. Together, we have gone through OxyContin (which at the time was the only effective medicine available,) methadone, and finally Suboxone. In addition to treating my pain, Dr. Wasserman has treated my sleep disorder, and he was the only doctor to ever be successful in treating my depression as well. I also have chronic fatigue syndrome and he is willing to treat me for that also. When I go to see him for an appointment, we have to interact in a ritualistic way due to the requirements of the various agencies that oversee his practice. He asks me about my pain level, both right now and on average, he asked how I in eating and sleeping and about my mood. He also asked a number of other questions and although it irritated me at first, now I don't mind the fact that they are always the same questions. He has given me diet advice and he is concerned about the amount of exercise I get and what kind of exercise it is. He takes meticulous notes on my condition, and he is able to quote back to me what I told him in previous sessions. I have ups and downs both in pain and other aspects of my health, and he has taught me patience because when I have a down period It always passes. If you say a negative review, there is a possibility that it was written by a disgruntled addict who entered his practice demanding opiates and did not get them. Now, he prescribes Suboxone for pain for almost all of his patients, so please do not expect to go in to see him and get OxyContin. Believe me, if you are really in pain, Suboxone is the superior drug.

I had been thrown from one doctor to another trying to find something that would work for my level of pain at my age. When I first saw the Doctor, I had been practically bedridden for 6 years, chronic pain, fatigue, I couldn't imagine having to last another 5 years in that sort of pain. Dr. Wasserman worked WITH me and my other health concerns to try to formulate a plan, giving me medications other doctors had tried but with a very tailored routine. It is difficult when you are in that level of pain, having been thrown around by doctors for over a decade, to believe that there are GOOD doctors out there anymore, but that visit probably saved my life. I still live with certain levels of pain and have to stick to a routine that works for my body, but with a patient, knowledgeable doctor, I have gone from unable to leave the house more than a couple of times a month to being able to attend events as long as I am careful about my body's limits. It has given me a new life, a… new freedom, and I can easily see another 5 years like this!! Oh, and it was done completely without any opioids of any form!!! Believe the hype, non-opioid treatment IS out there, and a doctor who does NOT overprescribe to compensate is right here at this location!!! Dr. Wasserman is an outstanding and caring physician. When my wife was quite ill and in considerable pain, Dr. Wasserman was the only person who was able to help her. He is extraordinarily knowledgeable, very professional and caring, and quite patient. Dr. Wasserman has changed our lives and we are forever grateful.

I was referred to Dr. Wasserman more than a decade ago for relief from head-crushing pain, which had developed within days after I removed a tick from above my right ankle in 2003. Without Doctor Wasserman's help, my wife would have remained a "pain widow," because of the hours and hours I previously had to spend in a dark room, because the untreated pain was too intense. We are both grateful for Dr. Wasserman's help in my Lyme disease struggle.

My story is a long one so I will cut to the chase: Dr. Justin Wasserman saved my life. He is the reason I am here now writing this review. Some years back, I was severely injured when struck by a drunk driver (as a pedestrian). Injuries were life threatening, and I was not expected to arrive at Suburban Hospital Shock-Trauma Center alive. But I am Polish, and we don't give up easily. Happily, most of my injuries resolved/healed, with the exception of chronic back pain which has derailed my life in ways I never thought possible. I am now considered handicapped, and live on a small SSDI monthly allotment. I am now settled in Chester County, PA where I had been unable to find help in managing my pain. This is largely due to the frenzy surrounding the opiod crisis in PA. Legitimate, chronic pain patients are placed in the same category as heroin addicts buying illegal and often lethal drugs on the streets of Philadelphia. There is no distinction made between the two very… different demographic groups. Herein lies the root of my problem. Over a period of 5 weeks, I tried (without success) to find help in managing my chronic, round-the-clock pain. I contacted doctors, wrote letters, delivered medical records, sought advice from every medical professional I could find. With each passing day I grew weaker and less productive until I reached the point of being, essentially, non-functional. But worse, I was beginning to lose hope. I was clinging desperately to my faith. Then, through the fog of pain and darkness, I remembered that I had one magic card in my hand that I had not yet played: Dr. Wasserman. I called his office, not knowing if he would accept me back as a patient (I had not seen him in 10+ years); nor if I would be able to get an appointment right away. The result: I was offered an appointment the following day. My only problem: how was I going to make the 2 1/2 hour drive to Bethesda, MD in my condition? On the wings of angels, I suppose (plus that Polish thing). Dr. Wasserman spent over 2 1/2 hours with me (keeping him there well past his normal office hours) documenting any and all recent medical history. Never have I seen a physician who was so thorough. At the conclusion of this, he provided me with three options for managing my pain. His knowledge of pharmacology is encyclopedic. We chose the option he thought best for the type of pain I was experiencing. He explained that modifications would likely need to be made before the optimum pain management regimen would be found. He also emphasized that nothing was going to be perfect; but he would work with me to find a regimen that would allow me the best quality of life. And so he did. When I left Bethesda that evening, I had hope. My "magic card" had provided me with a miracle in the form of Dr. Wasserman. Since that day, I have had several additional appointments with him. We did make minor modifications to my medication regimen. And I now have a life back. BUT EVEN MORE IMPORTANT: Dr. Wasserman genuinely cares about finding the best possible solution(s) for his patients. He is accessible (always). He allows patients to call his cell phone and he is there to help. I once left a message for him on a Friday afternoon. I expected I would likely hear back on Monday. NO - he knew I needed help and called me back that evening at 9 p.m. I was shocked. On another occasion, he made three phone calls to pharmacies to find one that had my medication in stock. This was also done well after normal business hours. In my 57 years, I have never known a physician who routinely goes above and beyond. I simply cannot say enough about his impressive knowledge, thoroughness, professionalism, accessibility, and genuine concern for his patients. I would not hesitate to recommend Dr. Wasserman to a relative or loved one who is searching for help with pain management. HE IS THE BEST IN HIS FIELD. By far. This is not just the opinion of a layperson; he has been repeatedly recognized by other physicians as the best in his field. And he provided me with a miracle: for this I shall be forever grateful.

My daughter had been a patient of Dr. Wasserman for approx. 4 months. I drove her to appointments due to her very painful and debilitating 2-year illness. She consistently waited at least 30 minutes and her appointment took over an hour. As anxious as I was to have her off pain meds, she had already reduced her amount in half. Her first pain doctor died, the second one moved out of the area. Dr. Wasserman refused to taper her pain meds in a manner that would not bring on a serious withdrawal on top of her serious health condition that deteriorated to the point where she now weighs only 97 pounds. We spent yesterday in the oncology department of Sibley Hospital and are waiting for the results. Every Doctor when hearing her experience has indicated that she is tapering off too quickly in view of her condition and how long she has been on them. Dr. Wasserman, in his anxiety over prescribing pain pills seems to have lost sight of reality and suggested that my daughter might… be going on the street to find drugs. He never made a plan to get her off opioids even when she asked him to. He just switched her to a synthetic opioid. Dealing with the office created additional stress which is the worst thing for her condition. After discussing the situation with her other physicians we were led to a new pain management Doctor who, recognizing our interest in weening off the pain meds in a responsible fashion, has provided a plan to do just that. The cost of our prescription was also astronomical under Dr. Wasserman. It would be $75+ when Dr. Wasserman prescribed. With the new doctor and with doctors before, it is a $5 copay. Plus his office visit cost is excessive. I think he fancies himself a psychiatrist. One needs a psychiatrist after dealing with this guy.

Not a good doctor.

Will be 69 in a few weeks and have been seeing Dr Wasserman for many years for several different kinds of chronic pain resulting from a variety of life events. Dr. W. is one of a kind, so passionate and knowledgeable about pain management. He not only has saved my life on more than one occasion, but continually improves the quality of my life uniquely treating each of my pain syndromes including ( back pain, post surgical neck pain, fibromyalgia, intercistial cystitis, neuropathic pain and a sleep disorder). Having read many other five star reviews, and not wanting to be redundant, I am in total agreement with their comments. Chiropractors, Physiatrists, Physical Therapists, Neoulogists, etc. none could help the chronic pain I was in. Dr Wasserman got me off Opioids. He has endless ideas what to prescribe in different combinations and dosages. He gave me hope and treated each of my issues with creative solutions. His approach is totally unique for treating chronic… pain. He is also warm and kind, compassionate and understanding of the whole individual with an endless array of treatments to help me manage my pain. He is an excellent diagnostician and a good listener. He spends 45 minutes to an hour each time we meet. He tweekes my meds until I am comfortable and satisfied with the results. And as life happens, he is very willing to make adjustments. Now I regularly swim laps, garden, dance, babysit, do advanced yoga, meditate, eat healthy, sleep great, and live a full life thanks to this amazing doctor! Thank you Dr Wasserman!
