Dr. Justine De La Rosa Decastro, MD

I was a patient for several years. Dr. Decastro too time to understand her patients. She was also very concerned about you as a person as well as a patient. I would still be a patient but due to personal reasons I retired and relocated to Michigan to be closer to family. I would recommend Dr. Decastro to anyone looking for a doctor. I miss her very much.

The one Doctor that actually listens to what you say. I’m in my 70s and you’d be surprised how many rush you thru without hearing what you said.

I waited an hour for my first visit from the original time of appt in the exam room, explained all my symptoms, once she was in she was great asked a lot of questions seemed concerned told me to get some tests done. I told her that I was losing my hair, had trouble sleeping, exhaustion, diarrhea for a few months, headaches, stomach aches. After I took the tests I received the results a week later. She said I had hypothyroid which is causing all that along with vitamin d deficiency and recommended a oncologist and a colon doctor. She also prescribed me some meds which has helped a little with the exhaustion. I explained to her and her staff that I was still have the diarrhea daily several times a day and exhaustion during the time of my follow up visit she was supportive but when I asked them to fill out my FMLA & disability paperwork they refused. I have been out of work and they still refused to fill out my STD paperwork. Her front staff is not friendly, not helpful. I don't… understand why they would refuse to fill out my paperwork or answer the questions. I have a legitimate illness.

Dr. DeCastro is a kind, compassionate, highly intelligent doctor who takes her time with her patients and actually listens. She never rushes and takes the time to answer questions. She is wonderful!

My wife went to see Dr De Castro, referred by her PCP Dr Alexander. She provided all pertinent identity info including a birthdate, SSN for Medicare insurance, license & medical records. She asked only that her license not be scanned due to past idenity fraud problems. She was then refused treatment & asked by the office mgr to leave! How shameful & disgraceful is that? The way the front desk treats people is usually reflective of how patients can expect to be treated by the Drs who hired them. Because her PCP had moved out of town my wife had many scripts that were about to run out & no other Dr lined up. Scripts where you shouldn't abruptly stop talking them which caused her alot of undue stress. There's no law that requires copies be made of photo IDs. What's asked for is at the decretion of the provider & the information was enough to positively identitfy her. It was certainly more than enough for someone else to steal her identity...again. She had been advised to be very… cautious especially with private practices & schools where it occurs most often.

Should be NO stars! Was refused treatment & asked to leave for not allowing my license to be scanned. They already had my SSN for Medicare coverage & I offered to show my license for visual verification. Dr DeCastro was referred by my other primary care physician Dr Carrie Alexander who moved out of state (& never asked for my license) so it's not like I walked in off the street. Tried to explain my past problems w/identity theft & that meant nothing to the front desk. Key ways to ID a new patient--name, date of birth, SSN &/or health insurance ID & I was already @risk by giving up my SSN. Now my scripts are running out & I'm under pressure to find another physician for me & my family.

She's very friendly and super smart. I would highly recommend Dr. DeCastro.
