Dr. Juvenal R Goicochea, MD

Dr. Goicochea was intent on pushed his agenda for surgery even though my thyroid was benign. He seemed to have 1 agenda instead of listening to my preference to wait and retest. He attitude was misogynist and he talked to me like a child. After a second opinion, I was told indeed surgery was not protocol in my situation and it was best to wait.

During my life of 55 yrs I have had 5 different surgeries and Dr. Goicochea performed all of them except for the tonsillectomy when I was 8 in 1971. The last surgery he performed was approximately 8 yrs ago and if he wasn't my doctor at the time, the outcome wouldn't have been the same. He was very diligent during my care and I had 5 MRI's leading up to the date of surgery and every tech who read my results said the same thing, my intestines we swollen. It wasn't until Dr. G went down to the lab and looked at the MRI himself that it was determined that my intestines weren't just swollen, they were twisting causing me to be violently ill and jeopardizing my life. Upon his discovery, he came immediately to my room and personally escorted me to the OR for emergency surgery. If you want a surgeon who will listen to you and will take true concern in your care before, during and after your surgery, I highly recommend Dr. Goicochea, he's truly my Hero!!

Everything went as planned. I am very satisfied with the outcome of the diagnosis and the ultimate surgery.

I visited this Dr with a sonagram report that i had 3 thyroid noduales. Dr G without even touching me wanted no insisted i waste no time in having a total removal of my thyroid! Said he was so sorry to give me the news the noduales were likely cancerous.. After a 2nd opinion and 12 biopsys there was NO cancer found and No surgery indicated!!!! Be ware of this one!!!!

My words cannot describe my gratitude to Dr. Goicochea for his professionalism, surgical skill, and compassion that he bestowed on me during the entire process. As a doctor and surgeon, he is top notch. As an individual, he is one of a kind and I would recommend him to anyone. At my initial consultation for potential thyroid cancer, Dr. G clearly explained the the procedures from biopsy to surgery to post-surgery recovery and maintenance. I gained immediate confidence with Dr. G and the final result was full thyroid removal. Excellent surgical results with minimal to no scar today.

Dr. G. is an amazing doctor and made me feel very comfortable. His staff, on the other hand are very unprofessional. They wait on you while chowing down on lunch, are horrible at returning calls, requesting information, sending faxes out, etc. Unfortunately, you deal with them far more than you deal with Dr. G.

With the possible diagnosis of thyroid cancer, I got a next day appointment with Dr. G. I understand why people sometimes have a long wait time because I was in there for a good 45 minutes (at least). He gave me another ultrasound, discussed all aspects of the surgery and I left with total confidence in him. After the surgery when I was home, I had problems with mobility. I talked to Dr. G every hour for 3 hours. We thought I could have had a calcium imbalance and he urged me to take calcium tablets. When that didn't seem to help, he then advised me to go to the ER and called them to prepare for my visit. Turns out there was nothing they or anyone could do. I had a reaction to the anesthesia that kept me from moving without great difficulty. (I believe it might have been scoline.) It was extremely painful and took a few days to wear off. I was very scared but he kept in touch with me and was very reassuring. He returned my calls immediately. He did a marvelous job on my… thyroid. This was the second thyroid operation for me. The first was kind of sloppy. I had only the left side left. He was able to save the parathyroid glands. If I had waited a while longer, it would have been cancer. I had an excellent surgeon. He truly is the best!!!

One of the best doctors. Dr. Goicochea is an outstanding doctor and I trust him with my life.Unfortunately, the office staff are not professionals at all. They don't greet patients at the time of arrival in the office. They are very rude over the phone. They never explain anything clearly and they don't call back with ansers.

Skillfully approached my case and answered all my questions applying a wealth of experience and knowledge. I understood the possible outcomes and experienced the best.
