Dr. Jyotsna U Thakkar, MD

More than any other specialty, a psychiatrist must have good listening skills. While this doctor has laudable credentials, her poor communication and listening skills render her incompetent. We took our teenage son for an evaluation, and she ignored or minimized our concerns, chuckling and proclaiming he was "just fine." We were there at our son's request--he knew he needed help. But her dismissive attitude slammed the door for him; he did not want to risk further humiliation by seeking another opinion. He toughed it out for five more years, but was eventually diagnosed and successfully treated for severe ADD and mild bipolar disorder. He has responded wonderfully to very low doses of medication. What a shame her indifference wasted so much precious time.

I am the husband of a Dr. Thakkar's patients. My wife is suffering from anxiety disorder. I attended a visit with the doctor, and in summary I consider this psychiatrist incompetent and inconsiderate. She has no compassion or the least of understanding of her patients. All she could do is increase the medicine dosage.
