I was referred to Dr. Bichenbach by my dermatologist after a biopsy confirmed melanoma. Dr. Bichenbach went over the results of the biopsy with me. He said I would need surgery to remove the melanoma as well as a sentinel lymph node biopsy to determine whether the malignancy had spread. He stated that based on the depth of the melanoma there was a very good chance that it hadn't . Dr. Bichenbach explained everything clearly and in terms that I could understand. I left knowing what had to be done and with many fears put to rest. Surgery at Morristown Medical Center went well. About a week after my surgery I noticed a lump in my groin where two lymph nodes had been removed. I called the doctor's office to ask if this was within the realm of normalcy. I expected that the message would be passed on to the doctor and someone would get back to me. I was told that Dr. Bichenbach would call me back in between his patient consultations . Within an hour I received a call from the… doctor. He explained that what I had was a seroma which was a space where the lymph nodes had been removed and had filled with fluid . He said that he would aspirate it when I came in for my post op visit. Once again, Dr. Bichenbach put me at ease. I know that I was very lucky that this was found early and did not spread. I also feel very fortunate that I was referred to Dr. Bichenbach. I think he is an excellent doctor and would highly recommend him. I would also like to note that there is little if no waiting time when you are scheduled for an appointment.

I had to rush twice to to ER and admitted again after the surgery.They did not realize that ileus first and infection after was going on.

Excellent surgeon. Diagnosed with colon cancer and within a week had surgery. I have total confidence in him. Takes his time with you and really listens. Answers all questions and doesn't rush you. Highly recommend!

I have never been to a better doctor. Dr. Bickenbach spends whatever time he needs to make you feel comfortable and to understand your situation. I recommend him highly..He is more than a 5 star.

I was diagnosed with stage 2 aggressive Melanoma. I visited Dr B 5 days later, operated on less than a week later after numerous, flawlessly executed testing procedures at Morristown Memorial. No signs of cancer since. Barely noticeable scars. Excellent patient communication. Called me personally with results and follow up.

I can write that title and know that it is true. I was diagnosed with Stage 4 Gallbladder cancer on 12/2/11 while undergoing surgery for another procedure. Dr. Bickenbach was brought in during the procedure, after the diagnosis, and performed a bypass of my colon due to a small obstruction. The following morning Dr. Bickenbach was charged with telling me what my diagnosis was. Since that time I have had multiple follow-ups with Dr. Bickenbach, and also another small surgical procedure to place a Mediport in chest so I was able to undergo chemotherapy (which I am still undergoing at this time). I have never once found Dr. Bickenbach to be rude, too busy to answer a question (even on his personal cell phone), or unprofessional in any way. I have found him to be kind, caring, and hopeful when possible. The truth is this- if it was not for the scar I have on abdomen due to the bypass surgery, I would never know that any procedure took place. Everything is working like normal… (better than normal!), and I am thankful for him and the other doctors that assisted him during that procedure every single day of my life.
