Dr. Kaitlyn West, DO

Dr. Kaitlyn West provides primary care for all children, from birth to 18 years of age, promoting wellness and disease prevention, as well as treating acute and chronic illnesses. She is also a certified lactation counselor and provides breastfeeding/lactation support for breastfeeding mothers.
As a college student, Dr. West was inspired to pursue a career in medicine when she worked as a counselor at a camp for critically ill kids. She saw how impactful a pediatrician could be in the lives of those courageous children.
“I chose pediatrics so I could serve children and families in a way that could make a true impact,” she says. “Becoming a pediatrician allows me to fulfill my dream to be a healer, a confidant, a teacher, a comforter and an encourager for both parents and children.”
Dr. West enjoys being a part of all phases of her patients’ lives, helping support their health every step of the way, “from the child's first steps to getting their …driver's license,” she says.
Dr. West grew up in Bardstown and completed her education and training in Kentucky. She remembers her last two years of medical school, working with “amazing providers at Owensboro Health who prepared me for the rigors of residency while completing medical school.” She and her husband now live in Owensboro with their two dogs, and they look forward to raising a family there.
