Dr. Kaley Alexandra Myer, MD

I recently had two pre-cancerous spots on my skin excised by Dr. Myer. Although the spots were small, the cuts were large and poorly stitched. I’m sure this will leave big scars. I’ve had plenty of surgeries and stitches and this was by far the worst.

The office staff was helpful but the paperwork seemed a little strange for dermatology. Instead of asking if I have advanced directives (which I have) I had to make a choice of 4 options. Strange. The medical assistant lacked cordiality and I was appalled at the long acrylic nails she was wearing. That caused me to question the cleanliness of the entire office. When Dr Meyer entered, I was greeted with “put on your mask” rather than a hello or good to see you again. After a quick exam Dr Meyer prescribed a strong and costly drug for a patch of eczema that I have under my left arm. After using the drug for 4 days I developed Shingles. This may have been coincidence but the drug brochure does indicate that it can cause a lowering of the immune system. Sadly, I will not be returning to this practice.

My husband saw Dr. Myer. During a follow up she noted a small patch of psoriasis had popped up. Since he used to havea majority of his body covered. Dr. Myer wanted to change him from Cosentyx to Tremfya. Why change when such progress had been made. He tried tremfya for 2 months and his psoriasis started to return at a viscous pace. My husband returned to Dr. Meyer requesting he return to cosentyx. Instead, this doctor pushed a new drug, taltz. She was very resistant to returning him to cosentyx. Dr. Meyer became cold and rather hostile when he said "no" to a new drug. Dr. Meyer dropped the ball by not calling our insurance for preauthorization until we called her nurse twice. We couldn't understand why she would switch him to begin with. Hmmm. Today, was the final straw. The billing department stated they could not see us as a cash only patient because we have a plan via the affordable care act they do not contract with. That, by "bypassing insurance and paying cash would cause… him to lose his insurance." What a load of crap. The Insurance Commission and Ambetter verified they were indeed lying. When I called back for clarification, the gal in billing stated, well, "it's our company policy to not accept any patient with Ambetter. Even if they pay cash". Wow. The insurance commission found their statement fascinating. Discrimination. It's not ok. Clearly, Dr. Meyer choses which expensive drugs to push. Gee, I wonder why? The billing and insurance policies at this practice are downright egregious. The office staff and billing have always been inaccurate, and short on professionalism. Shame on you guys. Avoid this doctor and office.
