Dr. Kalindi A Batra, MD

This is not intended to be a rant, but simply a review and heads-up to anyone looking for a new doctor or clinic. Dr. Kalindi Batra and/or the UCHealth system: BEWARE: You may fall through the cracks, not be listened to (or talked down to, lectured, or interrupted when speaking), and/or you may be without your meds for up to a week with absolutely no warning, communication, or explanation whatsoever. In short: Healthcare at its (almost) worse. Here’s my story: I request a refill at my pharmacy, normal thing. I don’t hear anything for a few days, so I call the pharmacy. They’ve been trying to contact my doctor for over a week. They did get a response, and Dr denied the refill request. I’m then wondering: Why didn’t I hear anything from Dr Batra or the clinic? No patient portal messages, no calls/VMs, no emails. I call the clinic 3 different times over 5 days. I am told each time that a “high priority message” will be sent to Dr. Batra. I get no answers. No med refills. I am told,… however, that I would need to make a checkup appointment with her, and they would refill ASAP that day. That was 5 days ago. STILL no medication. So finally, I see her at the next available appointment days later, after waiting for ALMOST ONE HOUR (it’s 6pm, there’s literally no other patients there that I could see). I can hear her talking about me out in the hallway. Basically during this visit, I am talked down to, interrupted, lectured, and pretty much told that it’s my fault. The clinic “has new protocols in order.” I ask how would I have known that? She says “it’s in your patient portal.” Huh, I didn’t see that. Also, am I expected to do detective work to figure out what is needed to stay on my medication and avoid the withdrawal symptoms I’m currently experiencing? She never actually listened to what I was saying, went on for like 5 minutes about their “protocols” and basically trying to defend herself. I still got no explanation of why I was contacted about any of this, and why it took me 1 week of calls and a doctor visit that I had to wait for almost an hour, before I got any answers. And her answer? Dr. Batra literally told me this: “My feedback for you is to be more proactive.” Ha! Is calling your office for a week NOT proactive enough for you? If it’s not, then that sucks for you Dr. Batra. I feel so bad for your patients. Her response to why messages weren’t read or answered? “We get hundreds of messages a day. We have staff that goes through them. I don’t seem them.” Well, Dr. Batra, I have some feedback for YOU: Listen to your patients. LET. THEM. SPEAK. Answer their calls or messages. DO NOT ignore them. Follow up with them. Make them feel, maybe NOT crazy? Or that YOUR incompetency, lack of communication, lack of care or attention is maybe… NOT their fault? Maybe don’t ignore your patients until they’re at the point where they’ve gone without their anti-depressant medication and are at a VERY DANGEROUS point…? I told her how I felt. I told her she’s making me feel like this is my fault. Her response: “Well, that’s how YOU feel.” ….WOW. Yep, that IS how I feel. And I won’t be seeing your face anymore, thank God.
