Dr. Kalpana Gorthi, MD

Dr. Gorthi is a wonderful doctor. She listens and works with her patients to solution problems. She reviews test results and thoroughly explains results. Her staff, Beth and Holly, are superb. I would strongly recommend Dr. Gorthi.

Rarely a true wait to be seen. Friendly and professional RN checks you in… Vital signs etc… Truly listening to my narrative and takes notes. Always reviews current medications. Dr. Gorthi is definitely a smart and very caring physician. It has been such a relief to know I am in her very capable hands. She listens, examines and explains all aspects of your upcoming medical care. She keeps excellent records and understands the full implications of tests and procedures.

I would NEVER recommend. You will get rescheduled multiple times for no good reason, wait an hour to see a rude, disheveled doctor who doesn’t even brush her hair and overbooks herself only to come in the room and speedily go through her cliff notes on you, then throws a piece of paper at you with your test results for you to read on your own. DONT WASTE YOUR TIME AND FIND A DOCTOR WHO ISNT TRYING TO OVERBOOK JUST TO CAPITALIZE. Healthcare is not the industry to act this way.

I saw Dr. Gorthi when she worked at Quivira Internal Medicine in Kansas. She is hands down the worst doctor I have seen in my life. I went to see her because I was experiencing severe pain in my back and numbness and tingling in my arms. My CRP was elevated to around 10ish and my vitamin D level was 11ish. Instead of instructing me to make x amount of vitamin D, she simply told me to take "more". According to 3 other doctors, they stated that she should have prescribed 50,000 ius once a week until my level was normal. Standard protocol. Instead, because I just took another 1000 ius on top of the 500 ius I was already taking, I continued to be deficient for almost another 2 years, causing vertigo, pain, and continued numbness and tingling. I had no idea that could be an underlying cause of my issues. At no time did she tell me this during my visits. When my vitamin D level normalized (a new doctor prescribed 50,000 ius once a week and I now take 7500 ius a day), my symptoms greatly… improved and I was able to stop taking Meloxicam. . . I had to twist her arm for an MRI. The MRI showed a bone spur which is vertical. Vertical bone spurs and elevated CRP are both early indicators of rheumatoid arthritis. At no time did Dr. Gorthi refer me to a rheumatologist. I only found out several years later when my symptoms were worsening and when my new doctor referred me to one. My rheumatologist looked at my prior MRI and my elevated CRP and was stunned that I wasn't referred to one when Dr. Gorthi saw me. At the time, Dr. Gorthi stated the elevated CRP was an indicator of early heart disease, nothing else. My new doctor stated CRP reflects arthritis flare ups which she should have known if she actually treats arthritis. . .My rheumatologist diagnosed me with seronegative rheumatoid arthritis due to the indicators and a family history of the disease. . . She also refused to prescribe prescription NSAIDs although I clearly stated IB wasn't working and Aleve was causing massive burning sensations in my arms each time I took it. She treated me like I was lying, literally. I requested at least Meloxicam because it had worked well for my husband when he had a pinched nerve. Meloxicam in non-addicitive and routinely prescribed for inflammation. I'll go as far to say my vet routinely prescribes it, and it would have been easier to get it through my vet than Dr. Gorthi. I had to complain to the office administrator, because she would only prescribe me prednisone when I clearly had put in writing that steroids increase my blood pressure, my heart rate, and cause mania (e.g. lack of sleep). When I reiterated with her my prednisone side effects, she told me I didn't have a choice but to take it. I took it, and, of course, I had to stop taking it for the side effects. Another doctor that she referred me to had to prescribe Meloxicam. And guess what? It reduced my symptoms drastically. Likely because Meloxicam is also used to treat rheumatoid arthritis. When I wrote a review about her on Quivira Internal Medicine's Facebook page, they tried to get my review removed with Facebook by flagging it as porn. I received a notification from Facebook. I kid you not. Before it was all over, I filed a complaint with the state healing board in Kansas. Dr. Gorthi moved out-of-state soon after. I literally don't buy all the positive reviews on here. I have never seen so many reviews for a doctor in my life.

Dr. GORTHI works me in when I call with urgent matter to me. Always up to take on prescribing my medications. Great listener and th ed knowledge she has is way beyond her years. Won't even think of going anywhere else.always greeted by her receptionist Beth who has a smile and a welcome word. They are a great team.

Dr. Gorthi and her staff are very professional and caring towards their patients. I would highly recommend her to any of my family and friends for the most excellent service.

I have been in Brevard for going on 18 years and I have been at three different offices, only to feel like a number not even a patient just write a prescription see you in a month. Then I walked in to see Dr.Gorthi to my surprise first she told me all about her self, then she wanted to know me and my family, What!!!! who does that any more. Dr Gorthi You meet her you love her and the girls are just has caring has she is. Do something great for you family, love ones, friends coworkers, go see Dr Gorthi. She doesn’t rush you and checks your chart so that she can take care of any issues you have. She listens to your concerns.
