Dr. Kambiz Motamedi, MD

I visited Dr. Motamedi' office to receive an x-ray guided injection. I asked him upon entering the procedure room, "so, you are the one who is going to perform the injection?" I asked because I did not want a resident to perform the procedure. He evaded my question and told me to sit on the table. His very eager resident and nurse guided me into position for the procedure. Motamedi sat to my right, and led me to believe he was going to perform the procedure. I looked to my left at the x-ray monitor for about 2 minutes while Motamedi located the point of entry (my groin area) to inject into my right hip joint. I felt the effects of the first of two injections; the first was a pre-numb. I looked to my right and saw that his resident was emptying the contents of the first syringe into my groin. Motamedi allowed him to take control of the syringe and procedure. Incensed and angry, I told Motamedi and the resident I did not want the resident to perform the injection. Motamedi told me he… himself wasn't going to do the injection (didn't I try to clarify that first off?!). I then told the resident I didn't want him doing the injection on me. He proceeded towards me with the second syringe. I said "stop!" The resident proceeded towards me further with the second syringe. I looked at Motamedi and asked him, "are you really going to allow him to inject me when I told you I don't want him to?" He replied, "Yes, I am." What is unclear about the word "Stop!" What is unclear about "I don't want ...!" I should have had the option to abort the procedure. Instead I was kept immobile with a needle in my groin. I cannot tell you how violated I felt. I was speechless. I am going to the medical board with this one. Whatever your needs are for treatment in his field, please consider his extremely low standards of ethics, at least in medicine, and find someone else. I will not go back to his facility located at 1919 Santa Monica Blvd., because it is my opinion that he, his resident, and his nurse (for not protesting on my behalf) discredits all of those they are associated with.
