My husband had a massive heart attack in a few years ago and a quadruple bypass and afterwards he kept having issues the cardiologist kept blaming on scar tissue and congestive heart failure. Thankfully my husband’s GP had the sense to realize there maybe something more to it and sent him for tests w/Dr. Patel who instantly picked up on the real issue. He has a terminal lung disease caused by an unknown airborne pathogen. He was immediately put on a treatment program to slow down the progression of the disease, but unfortunately will eventually require a double lung transplant!Had this cardiologist looked further into his symptoms sooner he likely would have had a diff outcome!! The way I see it, we were blessed the day Dr Patel Came into our lives as my husband would not be here today otherwise.

My mother just saw Dr. Patel today as part of her 9-month process (so far) of trying to qualify for a heart and lung transplant. In general, the process through TGH has been frustrating with answers and requirements changing with every new appointment. But, her appointment with Dr. Patel was a whole different level of awful. He was rude and dismissive, often ignoring her questions and making literally life and death decisions for her within seconds of meeting her. I am so upset and disappointed that her life is in his hands.

This doctor may have talent in his field but I have found him rude and arrogant each time I have seen him. Apparently I’m not sick enough to take up his time because he basically questions my need for care each time I’m there, treats me as though I’m fraudulently seeking medical care. Who would WANT to have lung disease and be on oxygen??? I will never allow this doctor to treat me again.
