Dr. Kar Hwat Own, MD

First, I would like to thank you for visiting my home page which is a way to introduce myself and my clinical practice. I am originally from Mandalay, Myanmar, also known as Burma. I am a Board Certified Nephrologist as well as a Fellow of American Nephrology Society and American College of Physicians. I first joined Kaiser Permanente Medical Group in Riverside, Southern California, in 1997. Since 2000, I have moved my practice to Vallejo Kaiser Permanente, Northern California.

About My Practice.

Currently, our Nephrology Subdivision in Napa-Solano County Service Area has six fully qualified Nephrologists along with five well-dedicated renal case managers to care for chronic kidney disease patients. My daily clinical practice includes both outpatient and inpatient nephrology care. As an outpatient nephrology consultant, I evaluate and follow up patients with medical kidney problems at Vallejo Medical Office Building. Mainly, those are referred by Primary Care Physicians. In addition, …we provide supervisions and follow up dialysis care for our dialysis patients (in-center or home hemodialysis, home peritoneal dialysis) at various local dialysis centers in the community. As an inpatient nephrology consultant, I rotate hospital calls with my nephrology colleagues, providing in-patient nephrology consultations and follow-ups.

My philosophy of giving quality health care is to provide the best possible care with respect as to the way you wish to care for yourself and your relatives.

In my leisure times, I enjoy traveling with my family, reading articles and books, listening/watching to news and music, and working on home improvement projects.
