Dr. Karan S Randhava, MD

Like others have said, he is nice but you can tell he doesn’t care. Lack of follow-through and is unprofessional.

Dr. Randhava helped diagnose me and has helped me as an adult. Being someone who has struggled my whole life with this previously un-diagnosed problem, I was at my wits end when I came to see Dr. Randhava. He has a way of simplifying a complicated and stressful issue into something manageable and solvable as well. My life has literally changed in many good ways from seeing Dr. Randhava. I can do many more things than I could before. I’m on a path and feel like there’s hope for my life to become something different than it was before, and something that I can be proud of.

My adolescent has shown signs of ADHD since birth. However, there have been many other factors involved in his emotional development, including years of mental abuse by the other parent, and the development of anxiety, sensory issues, suicidal talk, and so on. When I scheduled with Dr. Randhava last year I expected him to delve into the nuances of my son's personality and situation, and to provide therapy or help direct us to a therapist. Instead, within about 15 minutes of entering his office, and minor interaction with my son himself, Dr. Randhava diagnosed him with ADHD and prescribed medication. He said he would not be able to provide therapy, and said we would be in touch after my son started the medication. The doctor was very thorough in describing the medication (and the combination of medications he anticipated prescribing). When my son reacted poorly to the stimulant medication (which is apparently a sign that ADHD may not have been an accurate or complete diagnosis), he… prescribed guanfacine - a blood pressure medication. He did work closely with us to monitor the medication for the first few months, but never helped provide mental health support for my son, and did not work with the therapist we did find. This completely contradicts his bio, which states the importance of combining medication with therapy and mental health support. After 5-6 months of not seeing any benefit to the medication except an increase in lethargy (which was immediate, and levelled out, but did not alleviate impulsivity), I emailed him and my son's therapist about talking my son off the medication, asking for guidance and support. Not only did I never hear back from Dr. Randhava, I was notified by a different professional that he was no longer involved in the treatment of my son - he basically dropped us with no word. While he is friendly and very knowledgeable about medication, I was overall very disappointed in his treatment, in his diagnosis, and in the lack of personal involvement. Once the prescriptions were written, that was the end of it. I would recommend going to someone else to receive treatment.

Dr. Randhava is intelligent and casual. He's genuinely fun to talk to and has a really good understanding of psychiatry and people.

We had a very good experience with Dr. Randhava. Highly recommended.

My teenage child attempted suicide and was admitted to the local hospital Psyc ward. It was three days after a promised call that this good Dr. got around to seeing my teen with some lame excuses and little to offer in terms of direction and help for my troubled teen. I recommend working with the mail man or grocery store manager if you want better help.

Dr. Randhava presents quite well. Smooth, suave, and appears to be interested in your concerns. However, he doesn't actually do anything other than prescribe medications and dispense platitudes. This doctor is a joke. I would not recommend him to anyone. I found him to be quite arrogant, condescending, and eager to end the appointment early.

He listens when no one else will. He is very patient.
