Dr. Karen Elizabeth Smith Coleman, MD

She is amazing! Understand an endocrologist has the most overall medical challenge of figuring your health out like a puzzle. She has more knowledge medically then any doctor I have EVER visited for a 'health condition'. Devoted more time to me & my medical condition than any doctor I have needed to see. Her english is very clear & easy to understand. She spends like a hr with you or longer if needed (1st apt), so yes you may have a wait, but she does what is needed, so be patient your turn will come. Very through. I have nothing negative to say.

I was really concerned when I was originally referred to Dr. Smith-Coleman due to all the negative reviews, but I can't imagine they are actually talking about the same doctor. Dr. Smith-Coleman spent lots of time with my husband and I discussing my health. She answered all of our questions and explained everything thoroughly. She was thoughtful and kind, patient and understanding. She treated us in a very respectful manner. The staff at Beebe were also great. Check-in was welcoming and efficient. The nurse I saw was friendly and helpful even when dealing with a disgruntled man who had found himself in the wrong building. All in all, we had a completely positive experience and would recommend Dr. Smith-Coleman and her office to anyone looking for an endocrinologist.

Dr. Smith Coleman placed as much time on the details as any first office visit could allow. She was personable, focused, detailed, attentive and although fast, advised me on my best next steps.

She is very rude, probably one of the worst bedside manners I have come across. I told her I was referred to see her for 3 reasons and she literally told me she only had time to see me for one, and to choose the one that was "most important" to me. Subsequently, her care has been neglectful and resulted in my condition getting worse than before I saw her. My experience with her care has been the worse I ever had with any doctor in my life.

She is not a very caring doctor, talks condescendingly to her patients and refuses to give patients time to ask questions. I waited an extremely long time in her office (over 1 hr) and then she makes you wait even longer when in the patient room while she sees other patients. Her office is very incompetent and has messed up several of my medical documents and with scheduling. Overall, highly negative experience and felt very mistreated by her. As a result, I have more medical issues due to her poor care and treatment. I would not recommend seeing her at all!

I saw Dr. Smith way back in 1998 and was very sorry to have her move on to pursue endocrinology elsewhere. She really manages to show she cares about her patients' well being on all levels and is a very compassionate person.

Dr. Smith provided exceptional care for my elderly grandmother for several years in Georgia. She is sorely missed and we have yet to find another endocrinologist (or any other doctor, for that matter) with her bedside manner and exceptional level of care!
