Dr. Karen Anne Goodyear, MD

There is to much to write but if you have a mental health diagnosis, don't expect help from this one. Cold, uncaring and uninformed

We brought our son in for counseling and care with Dr Goodyear and I can honestly say it was one of, if not the, worst experiences of my life. Our child's behaivior did not improve and strategies given by Dr. Goodyear were not followed up on. There was an argument between our child and his mother and when they went to talk to Dr Goodyear about it she proceded to contact CPS and the child's school (without consulting us or informing us she was doing so....) CPS came to our house (where we have 3 other kids) and found the reported incident to be completely unfounded and unwarrented. The State Trooper who also came to our house as part of the investigation dropped his case imediately.She did nothing to help our child and jeopordized our entire family over an unfounded accustation without consulting me or my wife on her actions. In addition, she falsy reported statements from my childs school counseler, my wife, and child. Both my wife and child were in complete agreement on what… happened, whereas Dr. Goodyear was not and proceded to act accordingly. Obviously my feelings on Dr. Goodyear as a counseler for you children are very negative, parents beware.

Dr Goodyear has both the knowledge about our son's ADHD and Asperger's and the wisdom to give us good advice on taking care of ourselves and our son. She is thoughtful and inclusive of our son when appropriate, or provides paper and pencils or crayons for him to do artwork during our session. She is top-notch.

i agree, her personality was a big turn off to me. i felt like she really didn't listen to my concerns with my child. she was rude, short, and i felt like it was her against us. when i tried to ask a few questions, i felt like she was very agitated with the questions and took them personally. i will try again somewhere else.

I was reccomended to Dr Goodyear by a coworker who knew of her. Inititially I was taken by how distant she seemed from being interested in our son. I was happy that she gave him the diagnosis that I beleived he had but when I told her why we stopped giving him the medication (which at a previous appoinment she made seem unimportant, she lashed out at me in front of my son. I took it in stride but my son, after the appointment, complained that he didnt like the way she spoke to me and lead me to beleive he would not be as comfortable talking to her anymore. This is the third mental health professional that my son has seen in his lifetime and she is the first to seem so disinterested in him as a person. The first one stopped seeing because we changed insurances, the other one left the practice he worked with for other career opportunities. I was very dissatisfied with her personality and I wish we'd looked for care elsewhere. Waste of time and money.
