Dr. Karen E Joyce, MD

I am a nurse of 24 yrs, and have dealt with numerous Drs. I recently had unusual symptoms and labs. Dr. Joyce’s office welcomed me to be seen there although I was never seen there in the past. She admittedly let me know she was not certain yet what I had, but that she would call us when she had info. She promptly called back with abnormal results, and told us to get to the hospital right away. Come to find out, had she not been so diligent and prompt, I easily could have died or gone into a coma!

She is awful! I was trying to establish a doctor since mine retired. She rolled her eyes at me and keep asking are you done? Anything else? She needs to have a license taken away. Just horrible. I left in tears.

Dr. Joyce has an amazing bedside manner. She takes a seat next to me and listens intently to all I have to tell her, and she documents it. She is always on top of my exams. Her diagnoses have been spot on, as is her advice for me. I take her advice and do what she suggests because she is keeping me healthy. I will follow her to Methodist for continued good care. Her nurse can be gruff at times out of concern for the smooth flow of my health care, but that same nurse does a good job of going over all my meds, taking my vitals, and getting me ready to see the doctor. She's very encouraging to me to keep up my good health practices.

Horrible bedside manner...and RUDE nurses

I loved the Dr. She has too much trust in her nurse who is dishonest to Dr. Joyce about her contacts with the patients. It's the first time I encountered the nurse trying to be the Dr. instead of the nurse who should be able to be trusted. Dr. Joyce was wonderful and always correct with her suggestions and diagnosis's. I would love to use her services more again but can't handled the older nurse. Since I left her office I have found that there are at least 2 other patients who also left for the same reason but never told the Dr about their disappointment with the nurse. When I told the Dr. about the nurse, she let me know that she couldn't believe it because she has had her for so many years and believes and trusts her completely. When I would call asking to speak to the Dr., I was always told she is too busy of a Dr. and would have to use the services of the nurse unless I am hurt or something. NO WAY!!!!!

Concerned by the time I had to wait for apt.. Way to long

I recently decided to go to a different doctor after many years of going to Dr. Joyce and telling her something just wasn't right with me. My NEW doctor came to the conclusion that I have thyroid disease. It took just one blood test and one visit. I am NOT happy. Will not be going back!

Met Dr. Joyce for the first time after being admitted to the Emergency Room. Received excellent care under under direction. Outstanding skilled Doctor. Excellent beside manner and very professional. Very blessed to have her as my physician.

Never returned my phone call. Second guessed herself in front of me...the patient.
