Dr. Karen Yvonne Kirby, MD

My first impression of Dr. Kirby was that of a serious woman, passionate about her work. Her office is very cozy and welcoming with hot herbal teas to zen you into your session. For me, the environment she has created is incredibly comforting and calming and familiar - needless-to-say, nontraditional (and honestly, it couldn't suit me better). The practice is definitely going through some sort of transitional period and is currently without an office manager.. which is most likely why I've had to be more persistent in scheduling appointments recently. But seriously, it's just NOT that big a deal! (uptight cry babies beware!) Dr. Kirby not only offers a unique setting ..but a unique approach. Her conversational style, compassion and EMPATHY have been tremendously helpful in my journey. I'd met with so many doctors in the past and always felt they understood me only as a medical code - not an individual. After meeting Dr. Kirby more than two years ago, I knew I'd finally… found the right psychiatrist.

Gifted, tenacious like a pit bull in problem solving, really smart. Helped me a lot . Has alwyas been there when I needed her. Feel comfortable, and she makes it easy to bring up any subject. Don't know what these other ding dongs are talking about.

Dr Kirby is very polite and caring. Unfortunately she talks about herself and her own issues more than she talks to you about your concerns. I have seen her for over a year now and have seen a progressive decline in her level of attentiveness and organization as well. She seems very forgetful and distracted; almost as if she is medicated. I would not recommend seeing Dr Kirby as I fear it is a severe risk to your own well-being.
