Dr. Karen Angela Mccreary, MD

I had a very unpleasant experience with a doctor at AWC- the lack of empathy and bedside manner I received is flooring, especially in light of my diagnosis. She was clearly offended I sought out another practitioners opinion and consultation for a treatment option AWC does not provide and instead of having a conversation and providing education on the treatment options I had questions about she berated me and told me I was acting crazy. I will be gathering up my medical file and going to another doctor who will take the time to be caring and understanding and walk through this health challenge with me. I’m sure there are other amazing doctors at AWC and I know this is one persons opinion but I learned today that you need to be a strong advocate for yourself and I don’t need a doctor who has a god-complex.

I’ve seen Dr. McCreary for the last six years and I couldn’t have asked for a better provider. Dr. McCreary is one of the most kind and caring people I’ve ever met, and she always takes the time to listen to my questions and concerns. She has been my provider for the last three of my pregnancies, and delivered my last baby. She was able to collect an adequate amount of cord blood for storage, even though conditions weren’t favorable for collecting due to the lack of blood in the umbilical cord. Dr. McCreary is a very knowledgeable, competent, and caring OB and I would highly recommend her to anyone needing obgyn care.

Dr McCreary recently performed two surgeries for me. She and her staff went above and beyond. From scheduling my appointments to the exceptiona care after surgery, I greatly appreciate their compassion and competency. I would highly recommend her for any of your gynecological needs.

Dr. McCreary has been my doctor for years. She has always taken time to listen to my concerns and address any problems I was having with kindness and compassion. She has given me expert care that has greatly improved my quality of life be it hormonal issues, treatment of persistent medical issues or just providing me information about my history and health in order for me to make good medical choices for myself. I have complete trust in her care, so much so that I referred my daughter to her for prenatal care with my first grandchild. I feel lucky to have her as a physician for my family and look forward to seeing her each year for check ups. She is truly kind and always professional.

I'm surprised by the negative reviews here. Dr. McCreary was kind, knowledgeable and attentive during my follow up from my 6th pregnancy and through my 7th as well. I never had any problems and she was always willing to answer questions I had.

SHE DOESN'T LISTEN OR EXPLAIN ANYTHING... SHE IS SUPPOSE TO BE TECHNICALLY GOOD BUT YOU'D NEVER KNOW BECAUSE SHE DOESN'T SPEND TIME HELPING YOU UNDERSTAND. When I asked her anything, she would dismiss me. I had the worst experience... she didn't listen and rushed through appointments, didn't read my chart before my appointments and repeated tests twice because of this. Left me waiting and had medical assistant tell me she had to leave but wanted to induce me without seeing me!! It was horrific!! I do not recommend her or the Anchorage Women's Clinic...

During 2 prenatal appointments in my third trimester completely ignored my complaints of not feeling baby move much. Did not order work-up, spent 5 minutes with me and just listened with a Doppler and re-assured me. Baby was not fit to undergo labor and sustained brain injury during delivery.
