Dr. Karen L Newcomer, MD

May not realize how badly she comes off to patients. Felt worse about having gone in to see her than before. I’m sure she is smart but empathy is sometimes more important.

Virtual visit during the time of covid. Dr. Newcomer is, in short; brilliant, articulate, caring, insightful with a good sense of humor. Her observations and suggestions were at a much higher level of expertise than any other physiatrist I have spoken with. Her ease with "virtual" visits made it seem as if we were in the same room together. She was even able to watch me do things virtually that we would do if we were in the same room together. It was as if I was having an in-person exam. I am lucky to have had a consult with Dr. Newcomer.

I saw Dr. Newcomer for an issue in my lower back and after my initial consultation, I felt like she just pushed me off. She did not seem to care about the level of pain I was in and told me to see my primary. I though I was seeing her for my back, very disappointing.
