Dr. Karen Shaw graduated magna cum laude from Virginia commonwealth University Medical College of Virginia in 1985 after receiving her bachelor degree from Wayne State University. After completing her residency in a General Dentistry at East Carolina University she began private practice in 1986.
Recognizing that selecting a dentist is a personal choice, Dr. Shaw continues to update her educational experience with many hours of continuing education courses for herself and her staff allowing them to provide the most current dentistry to their patients.
Because of her exceptional dentistry, Dr. Shaw was designated in 2005-2006 as one of America's Top Dentists. She also received a dental teaching award from East Carolina University in 1992, where she is currently a Clinical Assistant Professor for the dental residency program. She is a founding member of Women for Women, a local society dedicated to financial assistance of local women to achieve their full potential.
Dr. Shaw holds …memberships in the North Carolina Dental Society, American Dental Association, and Academy of General Dentistry. She is married and has three adult children. When not practicing dentistry, she enjoys traveling, hiking, sailing, and reading.
