Dr. Karen Michelle Stover, MD

Saw Dr. Stover via PlushCare telehealth in July 2026, booked specifically to get a neurology referral. I described all my symptoms, but the referral was written with only a single minor diagnosis on it, and the receiving hospital rejected it as inadequate. When I asked for it to be corrected, Dr. Stover refused, citing lack of documentation for symptoms I had reported to her directly. Her final answer was that I should be seen by my other physician for further care. I paid for a visit that produced nothing usable.

I sure hope she comes back soon. There is a young doc covering her patients who is friendly and competent seeming but I really liked Dr Stover! The Renown system for appointments is cumbersome but in office scheduling of follow-ups is easy. Courtesy and knowledge of that staff does vary greatly. Renown Urgent Care has also been a good experience at the Damonte/Walmart location, so that is good when you can't get into the office.

When I moved to Reno last year, I wanted to find a woman doctor because I am more comfortable with a female physician. I hit the "jackpot" with Dr. Stover. She is very knowledgeable and spends time with you. It is not hard to get an appointment and the staff is very friendly. I would highly recommend her.

I saw Dr. Stover for a yearly check-up. In the maybe 2 minutes she was in the room with me, she prescribed me the one sinus medication which I said did not work for me when I have used it in the past (nasal steroid). She also prescribed the wrong birth control medication which changed my cycle. Calling the office was no help - had to be transferred several times.

I've tried on 4 occasions over a period of three days to get to a person who I can ask to schedule me an appointment and fax me some information that I need to acquire a blood test. I was put on hold every time for a range of 10 to 15 minutes prior to hanging up. I was extremely ill with the flu a while back and it was a two week wait to get in - they sent me to urgent care. Last time I saw the doctor (which was only my second visit) - she was unfamiliar with my case, had not read the chart, had not followed through with procuring my past medical records from my previous doctor (who moved away), diagnosed me with diabetes, handed me a cookbook and said see you in two months. I was in and out in 5 minutes and she was harried and pre-occupied. I'm going to find a new doctor. She came highly recommended, but that has not been my experience.

Dr.Stover's office is horrible. The reception staff is inconsiderate, has no compassion or empathy,and are very rude.Dr.Stover is also very rude and has no empathy or professionalism when it comes to her patients and following up with them.I had to wait for over 4 weeks for results, and had to call the office every week twice a week to keep staff and doctor on the issue. It was horrible to wait around not knowing if you had something seriously wrong with you or not.I would not recommend anyone go to this doctor or office. Horrible experience.When I finally spoke to Karen Stover after 4 weeks of worry, anxiety, and work to keep her and the staff on the job of getting my results all she could say was "sorry" no empathy, care, or anything toward me about the hassle and worry.

I have seen many doctors in my life and Dr. Stover the most caring and thorough practitioner I have ever seen. I saw her for follow-up after heeling poorly from surgery performed by another doctor. She treated me as a whole person, got to the root of the problem and I was feeling better within days. I would recommend her to anyone!
