Dr. Karen Elaine Thornton, MD

ove this doctor and office, I have been seeing Dr. Thornton since she had an office in the east village and have followed to 42nd and now 51st Street. I feel extremely taken care of, they literally remember everything about you with excellent follow up. The PA Toni is the most lovely soul. I've never waited long in the office and I've also had different insurance through the years good and bad and never one problem with billing.

This doctor and her office should be reported for insurance fraud. She and her staff are constantly resubmitting claims from Covid testing over and over to try and get further payment. These claims are now two years old. I’m not sure how they landed this role but clearly it was a mistake giving it to them. Note that the people on these claims get copies every time you do this and we’re sick of what you’re doing.

I went to see Dr. Thornton for an annual check up. I waited over an hour to see her eventhough I had an appointment. She seemed confused and kept asking me the same questions the nurse had just asked. I got blood tests. I got called back for an appointment only to be told my test results are negative. The doctor was confused and yelled at the nurse for forgetting to give me a crucial blood test. This medical office is only interested in charging clients for visits even when unnecessary. Then the real nightmare happened... I received a bill for my blood test even though as part of my annual check up, they are included. They told me they made a mistake with the billing and will corrected it. I have been email back and forth about this for 3 months and it still has not be resolved. In addition, they are trying to charge me for an emergency care bill. I remind you this is an in network which I made an appointment for an annual check up. They are shameless, spare yourself… the trip and the headache. There are tons of doctors in the city.

Very helpful and caring of her patients. Returns call for emergencies promptly.

I've been going to Dr. Thornton since I moved to NY in 2001. She has always been super responsive to me and my husband.

I've never been to a doctor whose paperwork asked if you wear a seat belt when you're in a car, wear a helmet while riding a bicycle, own a gun in your home. That's as far as we got before we left. These are outright invasions of privacy and have nothing to do with curing a cold. The doctor refused to see us after we refused to answer these ridiculous and irrelevant questions. Now I know why it was so easy to get an appointment. Do not go here for any reason.

Karen Thornton is the worst doctor I have ever seen. She is unprofessional and doesn't care about her patients. I can't believe she hasn't been sued. It's really only a matter of time.

Please, don't go. I've never left a negative review for someone before .. but this was shocking. She makes fun of her clients (yes, I overheard her), rushed me, and then absolutely promised me that the routine bloodwork and annual check-up tests she was going to run on me were covered by my health insurance. Not only did I later receive a bill for over $1,000, but she also ran tests on me without my consent. Absolutely the rudest, most money-grubbing, unethical doctor I have ever seen. A disgrace to a profession that is about health CARE.

Dr.Thornton is an excellent Physician!!! She is very thourough and gives each patient the attention deserved!
